Did Kristen Doute Get Engaged?
The #PumpRules pal almost had us (April) fooled.
After witnessing Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney-Schwartz's absolutely gorgeous nuptials in the season finale of Vanderpump Rules, who wouldn't be inspired to tie the knot? Kristen Doute certainly had fans wondering if she would be the next member of the Vanderpump Rules crew to walk down the aisle with a very curious Instagram post this weekend.
Kristen posted a photo of herself and boyfriend Brian Carter at the Petit Ermitage in West Hollywood on Saturday, April 1 with the caption, "back to the place we first said I love you." Every photo of the couple is lovely, but this one was particularly special in that Kristen was flaunting what appeared to be a big diamond ring where one would normally wear an engagement ring.
This pic, of course, sent fans into a frenzy, wondering if Kristen and Carter had gotten engaged over the weekend, as evidenced by the comments on that Instagram post. Luckily, Kristen didn't leave us hanging for long. She followed up that photo with another post confirming that it was all just an April Fool's Day prank. "[W]here did that damn ring go?" Kristen captioned a pic of herself looking sad. "[A]t least I got a tan and it's finally April 1st!"
But perhaps Vanderpump Rules fans should have been wary of Kristen's pic from the get-go. She has been known to rock a fake engagement ring, after all. "I just want to take it for a test drive. I get a lot of crap for it. And even [Carter]'s just like, 'Why don’t we go when you’re ready and when we’re ready to do that and just go shopping for one?' And I’m just like, 'Yeah, but you can only try it on once,'" Kristen told The Daily Dish about her faux bling last December. "You need to wear it around. The one that I have now falls to the side, and now I know that I don’t like that kind of a setting. You really need to wear it with different outfits."
Still, Carter didn't shoot down the possibility of marriage with Kristen in the future. "I don't know. If you play your cards right and keep making that really good food," he told The Daily Dish in December when asked if he planned to put a ring on it anytime soon.
