Katie Maloney-Schwartz Opens Up About Her Drama with Scheana Shay: "We Don’t Have to Be Best Friends"

Tensions are already pretty high this season on Vanderpump Rules — and we're not just talking about that rumor involving Jax Taylor and former SURver Faith making its rounds. The friendship between Katie Maloney-Schwartz and Scheana Shay is definitely strained. And, as we saw, so much so that Scheana didn't even invite the fellow SUR waitress to her birthday party (watch the moment above). So, what caused the rift?

Katie recently spoke to Us Weekly about that, explaining how they went from Scheana being a bridesmaid in her wedding to their current status. "I kind of resolved it to — we don’t have to be best friends. I’m not going to hate you. I’m not going to ignore you or go out of my way to be rude," she explained. "If I see you, I’m going to say, 'Hello. How are you?' That’s what I thought was going on."

Katie shed some more light on what led to their issues. "But then I would hear from other people that she’s saying all kinds of stuff. I don’t understand. It’s like, 'I haven’t seen in her a while. Why is she talking like that? Why is she saying these things?' I don’t really know why she can’t let it go with me or just be chill about it," she said, before teasing, "You’ll see a little more of what went wrong with Scheana and I over the season."
