Katie Maloney Reveals Chef Penny No Longer Works at Something About Her: “Wasn’t the Right Fit”
The Vanderpump Rules cast member reveals chef consultant Penny Davidi left the sandwich shop she owns with Ariana Madix.
After years of planning, preparing, and watching the progress on Vanderpump Rules, Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix's sandwich shop, Something About Her, will be opening soon. But, they have had to make some changes along the way, including who they have employed to work there.
During an April 19 appearance on the podcast, Popping Off with Teddi Mellencamp and Emily Simpson, Katie revealed that she and Ariana have had to part ways with Chef Penny Davidi.
"No, we're not working with Penny any longer," she said.
Why did Chef Penny leave Something About Her?
Katie told the podcast hosts, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Teddi Mellencamp and The Real Housewives of Orange County's Emily Simpson that she "can't" get into the details about Chef Penny. She did, however, give a statement about Penny no longer being involved with the sandwich shop.
"You know, I mean, we loved working with Penny, and Penny was great, but ultimately it wasn't the right fit," she said.

Who is Chef Penny Davidi?
Chef Penny Davidi has been seen throughout Season 11 of VPR, helping both Katie and Ariana with Something About Her. Penny had helped them hire employees, as seen in Season 11 Episode 6, and was instrumental in helping decide what sandwiches were going on the menu. "Penny's really working on, like, the nuts and bolts, of the restaurant," Ariana explained during the episode.
In addition to helping Katie and Ariana get Something About Her off the ground, Chef Penny worked as the chef and menu curator for PUMP Lounge before it closed during Season 11 Episode 2 and worked as the menu curator for TomTom.
When will Something About Her open?
During her appearance on Popping Off, Katie revealed that she and Ariana are in the "home stretch" for opening their cafe and have "everything" they need to open. While she was shy about announcing an opening date, she did reveal that they are close.
Katie elaborated on this in an interview with E! News on April 20. "We are so dangerously close and I mean that in a positive way," she said. "I know it's been a really long time coming and that's felt by everyone that asks me that question. But, I mean, if we could've opened six months ago, we absolutely would've. But it's completely out of our hands. But we're hiring right now and will be training very soon and it's right around the corner. I don't want to share a date but very, very soon."
