Katie Maloney's Cute Childhood Photos Show Her Love of Dressing Up and Parties
Before there was Something About Her, there was something about this cute little girl from Utah.
Long before she joined the staff at SUR and was introduced in the first season of Vanderpump Rules, Katie Maloney was just a girl growing up in Park City, Utah.
She had some pretty big dreams of becoming an actress, though Katie first introduced herself in Vanderpump Rules Season 1 Episode 1 as an aspiring "a music producer."
One thing she did not predict was seeing herself on reality TV, Katie told The Salt Lake Tribune in 2013.
"Oh my gosh, I never thought that I would do a reality TV show," she said. "I didn't want to for a long time because there was a stigma attached to reality TV that I didn't want to involve myself in, so I caught myself by surprise by getting involved."
Now more than 10 years and 11 seasons later, Katie is still involved in the show, which has captured so much of her life — from her engagement and marriage to ex-husband, Tom Schwartz, to their subsequent divorce and her rise as an entrepreneur.

Katie Maloney on the Beach
In a 2013 interview with The Salt Lake Tribune, Katie said that she always dreamed of moving to Los Angeles, California, to become an actress. She started at SUR in 2009 and had worked there for four years before Vanderpump Rules started filming.
The sandy shores of California are a far cry from the snowy mountains of Park City, and this photo shows that Katie already had a feeling for the sand between her toes before pursuing her dreams.

Before she was playing around with the menu of her upcoming sandwich shop, Something About Her, Katie was playing with toys in her childhood home.
Speaking of Something About Her, the sandwich shop that Katie is opening with Vanderpump Rules cast member, Ariana Madix, is still in development, but will be open soon.

Ariana told BravoTV.com in December 2023 that they are waiting on the next round of inspections, but as soon as they get the "go ahead" they will open. "We have an incredible menu," she said. "Amazing staff. Very excited people ready to go. So we're just kind of waiting on that thumbs up, that stamp of approval."

Katie looked absolutely adorable in her '80s inspired workout outfit and light pink dumbbells in this undated photo from her childhood. But her interest in her own health and wellness has been well documented.
In 2020, Katie told Style & Living that "diets don't work" for her. Instead, she has worked with a nutritionist to help her understand how to eat for her metabolism and has emphasized the importance of balance with incorporating some movement into her life every day.
"I just like to listen to my body, be 80/20 with it all," she said. "[I always try to] be active and moving my body, getting steps in. 80% of the time, I'm being very on top [of it] and consciously eating the kinds of food I should be eating that my body knows how to digest, eating healthy. Then 20% [of the time, I am] indulging in the things I love. That's the approach I'm trying to take to it all."

Katie not only loves a good party but she loves celebrating her own birthday, too. Katie was born on Jan. 16, making her a Capricorn. Capricorns, according to Co-Star, are motivated, responsible, and driven, but they might take a while to warm up to people.

Katie first moved to Los Angeles as an adult to become an actress, but found that the career "could be debilitating at times," she told The Salt Lake Tribune in 2013, after going on so many auditions and not booking anything. Instead, Katie told the newspaper that she was then trying to pivot into doing hair and makeup for movies and TV shows.

Katie has also been open about her longtime love of music (hence her Instagram username, musickillskate) and how she also moved to L.A. to pursue that interest, as well.
In a 2013 interview with Reality Wanted, Katie said that her "ultimate goal" would be "to own a small record label that was also under the umbrella of a music supervision company as well — doing songs for movies and television, work with artists and supervise them."
That worked for a bit, as Katie has three music supervisor credits to her name.

Katie is no stranger to celebrating Halloween. The former You're Gonna Love Me with Katie Maloney podcast host has often decorated her home for Halloween, fully embracing the spooky spirit over the years.
But she should bring back this costume for next Halloween, because she makes for such an adorable flower!
Katie Maloney's Style Inspiration
Whether she's sporting a rainbow painted on her cheek with a coordinating lace shirt or any of her modern fabulous fits, Katie knows how to rock an outfit. Seriously. Katie has always had a passion for fashion, whether she's wearing a metallic dress for New Years Eve or lounging around the house in some super cool baggy cargo pants.
During a Q&A session on her Instagram story in December 2023, Katie "described the vibe" that she goes for when putting together an outfit. "It varies (obviously) but it always depends on my mood," she wrote in reply. "And I usually match my mood or try to invoke a mood."

"[Interpret] this however you want but sometimes I'm like, damn I feel like wearing something slutty. And other times I'm like I want to wear the baggiest clothes I can find. I like [to] mix media and patterns and textures and things that are unexpected. It's self expression and I just wear what I think is fun and FEELS GOOD [at] the time."
