Jeff Lewis Says He's Making "Progress" with Gage Edward After Their Recent Breakup
The Flipping Out designer has some major news on his relationship with his ex-partner.
Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward's relationship post-breakup hadn't been in the best place in recent days. The Flipping Out designer shared on his Radio Andy show, Jeff Lewis Live, last week that Gage had already started dating again, which he called "a big f--king misstep."
However, it appears that Jeff and Gage are now working toward getting on better terms. Jeff revealed during the February 8 episode of his radio show that he and Gage had planned to go out to dinner together over the weekend. “He was very clear it’s not a date, and if I’m under the impression it’s a date that it probably shouldn’t happen,” Jeff said, as reported by PEOPLE. “So I said, ‘I get it. I get the boundaries here. This is platonic.'”
Jeff announced the news that he and Gage had separated during the January 31 episode of Jeff Lewis Live. He also shared that Gage had moved out of their Hollywood home and into a hotel, which he later left to move into an apartment of his own, after the two had lived in separate rooms in the house they shared with 2-year-old daughter Monroe for the better part of 2018.
Although Jeff has also considered moving on and getting back into the dating game, he has remained hopeful that he and Gage will be able to work out their issues and get back together one day. During his radio show on February 8, Jeff seemed to be happy about a recent exchange he had with Gage. “He said, ‘You have a lot of work to do on yourself... And I have a lot of work to do on myself,’" Jeff recalled. "So progress! This is progress."
Jeff opened up about the real reason for his split with Gage on his radio show last week, saying that he is "90 percent responsible for why we're here." "I emotionally abandoned him last year. I was a complete prick. I turned on him. I pushed him away. All I can tell you, it was my worst year. I experienced great loss," Jeff explained, referring to the end of his friendship with Jenni Pulos-Nassos and the passing of his grandmother Patty in September. "There was great loss, great loss, and I did not handle it well. And I self-destructed, I really did. I didn't even recognize myself, frankly. And so by the time that I tried to correct the situation, which wasn't until January 1 of this year, it was too late. That is the truth. I take responsibility."
Jeff said that he has done a lot of reflecting within the past month. "Believe it or not, I've changed a lot in the last 30 days," he said. "There are things that I've done and said that I would never do again to anyone, any person."
No matter what happens between him and Gage, Jeff said that he has come away from the experience with a valuable lesson. "It could just be one of my biggest lessons in life, really, truly," he said. "And moving forward, there's nothing you could do. You just live and you learn, and you don't repeat the pattern."
