Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward Will Be "Very Nurturing" Parents, Says Pal Lea Black
"Jeff is a guy that has a big heart that he doesn't wear on his sleeve all the time," the #RHOM mom revealed.
The pressure is on this season of Flipping Out, as Jeff Lewis and his partner Gage Edward prepare to welcome their first child via surrogate this fall.
Although we've seen the couple feel increasingly stressed as the due date approaches, their good friend, The Real Housewives of Miami's Lea Black, has the utmost confidence that they'll be amazing dads when their little one arrives. "I don't think anyone's ever ready to be a dad, but I think that they will be hands-on, and I think they'll be very nurturing, and I think the kid will have a very well-rounded perspective on life, based on just the people they hang out with and the way they live their lives," Lea told The Daily Dish earlier this month. "The kid won't have a sheltered life. She'll be exposed to a lot of interesting people and situations. And I think that's the best way to raise a kid."
Lea said Jeff first told her the good news at one of her parties months before it was revealed during this season of Flipping Out. "And he said, 'Don't tell anybody.' So every time I run into somebody, they're like, 'Did you hear that Jeff...,' and I would say, 'Really? I didn't know,'" Lea joked. "And then I find out, because I'm so stupid, that I had Tivoed the show, but I hadn't watched it, that everybody knew because it was on television."
Now that the cat is out of the bag, Lea is publicly sharing her excitement for Jeff and Gage. "I'm very happy for them," Lea gushed. "Jeff is a guy that has a big heart that he doesn't wear on his sleeve all the time, you know?"
Though Lea said she doesn't like to give parenting advice ("It's so arrogant."), she made an exception when it came to Jeff and Gage. "I think if I had to pick one thing, I would say you train your environment so that your child fits into your life, rather than you fitting into theirs, meaning take him with you where you want to go, don't say no to something because of the kid, take the kid with you," she said. "Go on about your life and have the kid live that life with you as much as you can. And I think the kid's better for it, and I think the parent feels less overwhelmed and tied down because of it."
Jeff and Gage are on their way to becoming parents, as we'll see during the Flipping Out Season 9 finale Thursday night at 9/8c. As you'll see below, you're going to want to have a tissue handy.
