Jax Taylor Says There Is One Thing Keeping Him and Brittany Cartwright Together (Besides Their Son)
The Valleystar also gave an inside look at what his bar, Jax's Studio City, is like.
Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are “separated” right now, but business keeps them tied together.
The couple, who got married in June 2019 and share a 2-year-old son, Cruz, both return to Bravo in the new series The Valley, which offers an inside look at their lives as parents in Los Angeles.
In a recent interview with The Daily Dish, Jax spoke about the show, his current relationship with Brittany, and and more
Jax Taylor Talks Brittany Cartwright Split
The former Vanderpump Rules star and “number one guy in the group” wanted to keep discussion about his separation from Brittany to a minimum.
“We’re separated,” Jax told The Daily Dish. “That’s pretty much all I just want to say. I don’t really want to talk about my relationship, again, because it’s not a publicity stunt so if I talk about it, then it looks like a publicity stunt in my eyes, so you know it’s something personal.”

The only difference between their separation from what others go through is being in the public eye, according to Jax.
“I just hope people that can respect that and just understand that, you know, I’m like anybody else,” Jax said. “Marriage is tough. It can be tough at times, and you know, I’m working on myself."
Amid their split, Brittany previously told Page Six she moved into an Airbnb in January with Cruz.
“I feel like I’m always a kind of a work in progress,” Jax said. “It’s just kind of who I am and I’m very aware of that and I’m … doing everything I can to better myself, but you know we’ll see what happens.”
In addition to their shared adoration for their son, Cruz, they have another “baby” keeping them busy and in each other’s lives … their bar, Jax’s Studio City.
“It’s actually the one thing that’s been really great in Brittany and I’s life right now,” Jax said about the Los Angeles bar. “It’s the one thing that’s keeping us really strong.”
Jax also disagrees with those who say the bar may have had a negative impact on their relationship.
“No, it’s actually the thing that keeping us together,” Jax said. “We both have a great time with it. We both love it. It’s our baby. Everyone loves coming to the bar.”
Jax thinks his bar is “way more laid back” than the Toms' Schwartz & Sandys. (Check out the menu here.)
“It’s a lot friendlier on the wallet,” Jax said of his bar, later adding: “It’s just a really cool bar and that’s every guy’s dream to own a bar … It’s like hitting the lottery.”
Will Jax Taylor be on The Traitors?
Jax boasts the bar offers “a little bit of everything” with shuffleboard, darts, and karaoke and trivia nights. Plus, there’s the possibility of an occasional Bravoleb sighting for viewers stopping by. The bar plays host to watch parties for shows like Vanderpump Rules and House of Villains as well. Jax competed in the latter show’s first season.
“I didn’t listen to my manager, publicist at all when I went into House of Villains,” Jax said, explaining they encouraged him to watch shows like The Challenge or Big Brother to prepare. “I tried to muscle my way through it and that’s the thing you don’t do on these types of shows.”
It was Jax’s first experience on a competition show like that.
“I thought, you know what, I’m a strong, athletic guy,” Jax said. “I’m gonna bully my way through it. Obviously, that didn’t work, actually worked against me.”
Jax would be open to joining a future season of Peacock’s The Traitors, though, he told The Daily Dish.
“I’m open to anything really, you know, I love doing all this,” Jax said of his reality TV experiences. “I’m just so excited to be back. I’m so humbled and honored that NBC and Bravo are giving me another chance at life and I’m just so grateful and I just — it’s a blessing and so whatever anybody wants me to do I’m open. I consider this like my extended family, so whatever they need, I’m there."
The Valley airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
