The Southern Charm cast member opened up about professing his love for Taylor and getting rejected in front of "a million people."
As far as jaw-dropping moments go, Southern Charm Season 9 was one for the books. We’re talking love triangles; friendship betrayals; heated confrontations; and, of course, plenty of tears. But the “hardest part” for Jarrett “JT” Thomas was when he opened his heart to Taylor Ann Green.
The real estate expert established a close bond with Taylor throughout his inaugural season and became one of her biggest defenders amid her kiss scandal involving Austen Kroll. As the drama unfolded, JT made it clear he had developed romantic feelings for his castmate and eventually professed his love in the Season 9 finale.

“I better just say something now and get it off my chest,” JT told Taylor in the January 4 episode. “I mean, every time we hung out it was just constant laughter, constant joy. That’s rare to find… I love you. I would marry you tomorrow.”

Taylor told JT she valued their friendship, but suggested there was no romantic spark.
“I think I just need some time to process and heal and move forward,” she replied before expanding on her feelings in an episode interview. “I’m just more attracted to the assh---s.”

JT reflected on the moment during a recent appearance on the Side Piece with Melissa Pfeister podcast, where he was asked to describe the most difficult part of Season 9.
“The hardest part for me was the last episode knowing that there was probably a 5 to 10 percent [chance] that maybe Taylor would have been like, ‘You know I feel the same way. I love you too,’” he explained. “To put yourself out there and be vulnerable in front of, I guess — I don’t even know how many people watched the episode. Let’s just say it’s 1 million people. To see a million people watch you get shot down, I mean not many people can say in life that they’ve ever experienced that.”

Before the finale aired, Taylor confirmed she was romantically involved with Gaston Rojas, a fellow Charleston resident whom she met through Southern Hospitality’s TJ Dinch. JT admitted he still cared for his castmate despite her new relationship, and said they remain close friends to this day.
“Me and her are strong, we’re good friends and it’s not awkward,” he continued. “We can grab a beer and just be homies. It’s not awkward at all and I’m happy for her… A real man can take an L and still maintain a friendship with a woman.”
So, does JT still have any romantic feelings for Taylor? He insists the relationship is strictly platonic and will most likely stay that way.
“I would say [we have] white heart emoji love,” he said with a smile. “If she was ever like, ‘Hey, I’ve had a huge change of heart,’ and then, you know, we would we would meet in person and talk about it. But I am not holding my breath in that conversation.”
