How Does "Sweetheart" Rebecca Minkoff Know the RHONY Cast? Her Connections, Explained

The inner circle has expanded on The Real Housewives of New York City.
Season 15 of the Bravo series premiered Tuesday, Oct. 1 with a rollicking episode of hot takes, cold plunges, and introductions to Rebecca Minkoff, who offically joined the group as a friend of the cast.
How does Rebecca Minkoff know the RHONY women?
An established New York designer, Minkoff knows the cast through Erin Lichy, as we learned when Rebecca joined Erin and Ubah Hassan at a cafe for drinks and a chat.
“Becky Minkoff is a friend, but she's also a major fashion designer,” Erin. “She’s awesome. She's such a sweetheart.”
Who is Rebecca Minkoff?
Rebecca "is a best-selling author and powerhouse entrepreneur who has paved the way for many and is the co-founder of the Female Founder Collective," per her Bravo bio.
“Rebecca is dedicated to creating the modern cultural and business narrative of togetherness and a shared success,” according to a show release. “She continues to push boundaries, lead the fashion industry, and galvanize communities of women by promoting confidence, fearlessness and authenticity. She is a loving wife and devoted mother of four.”

“I've heard so much, great things,” Rebecca said upon meeting Ubah.
Ubah was aware of the Rebecca Minkoff brand. “I know your name like I know Coca-Cola,” Ubah said with glee. “I am so happy to meet you.”
Rebecca said the feeling was mutual. And when Ubah remarked that she considered Rebecca as being very New York, Rebecca replied “Well, 20 years.” Two decades ago is a long time to make a mark.
Over coffees — a large black Americano for Rebecca, a latte for Ubah, and an espresso martini for Erin – the women brewed up some girl talk.By all accounts it was a happy initial meeting.
“I knew you guys would love each other,” said Erin.
“She’s a good matchmaker,” Rebecca, a mother of four, agreed.
The subject ultimately turned to Brynn Whitfield’s upcoming gathering. Erin told Rebecca that she should come with her as her date.Rebecca happily agreed and wondered who else would be there and if she would know anyone.
Being in the same fashion universe, Rebecca knew of Jenna Lyons and Sai DeSilva. She’d also be meeting Jessel Taank, Brynn, and new Season 15 Housewife Racquel Chevremont, an art curator and model.
At the party all the ladies initially played nice. But the evening eventually soured when simmering tensions between Brynn, Sai, and Erin boiled over.
Rebecca, meanwhile, got a front row seat to how dramatically and how fast the tone can change on The Real Housewives of New York City.
