Reagan Charleston Was "Horrified" at How Ex-Husband Jeff Charleston Learned She Was Pregnant
The Southern Charm New Orleans lawyer responds to criticism of her new relationship with Reece Thomas.
Thanksgiving dinners can have a tendency to be tense, awkward, and explosive when you get a bunch of loved ones under one roof together. And that was exactly the vibe at Jeff Charleston's Friendsgiving dinner in Sunday night's episode of Southern Charm New Orleans when the host became extremely emotional after finding out that his ex-wife, Reagan Charleston, was expecting her first child with fiancé Reece Thomas. Watch the moment, above.
Reagan, who was not invited to Jeff's Friendsgiving dinner, had some things to say about all the chatter surrounding her personal life on Twitter after the episode aired. "The feelings police on twitter will beg to differ, but I moved out in 2017, separated, then filed for divorce. I didn’t think anyone would be shocked when I started seeing [Reece]," she said. "Also, is a pregnancy that shocking when two 30 somethings live [together and] are engaged?"
She added, "Was also particularly horrified to see that my pregnancy was shared at my ex-husband’s dinner party and then discussed at the dinner table. Fully expecting the peanut gallery to finger wag and scold."
No matter what anyone in the Southern Charm New Orleans crew or beyond has to say, Reagan isn't letting anyone take away the happiness she has found in this new chapter of her life. "We always say at the house 'you can’t mess with happy,'" Reagan told one fan on Twitter. "But I have to admit, it does get frustrating defending it all the time!!"
Jeff opened up about why he got so upset about Reagan's pregnancy news during an interview with The Daily Dish prior to the episode airing. "Really, I think it was just the moment of when I found out. I didn't see that [coming]. At the time, I was mad like, 'Man, I'm just trying to enjoy my party.' You know, that was the biggest, like, 'Why now? Why do I need to know now?' And it wasn't, you know, I wasn't mad at my friends, I wasn't mad at Reagan, it was just like, man, now's not the time. Let me enjoy one night. That's why I was mad. And then it was just the push," he shared. "I tried to suppress it. I was like, 'Look, the party goes on.' And I just can't hold it in."
The former NFL player also said that he has not yet met Reagan and Reece's daughter, Reece Ellis Thomas, who was born on June 12. However, things between him and Reagan still remain amicable. "Look, I'm happy for her. We've both moved on in different directions. I think we're both a lot happier right now. That's one of the biggest things for me was re-finding myself so I know what drives me and what pushes me forward on a daily basis, because I had a lot of energy and fire when I was young, and it got me into the NFL. I had this drive that couldn't be stopped. I kind of lost that during marriage. I felt trapped, and I felt just kind of bored. So going through all that having to be alone, you kind of rediscover yourself again," Jeff explained. "So I'm in a much better place than I have been, and I think, you know, with her starting a family and where she's at, we don't communicate a whole lot, but we talk from time to time, not really that often. But, you know, I think she's happy. Motherhood is probably going to do her well. I think it's what she needed."
