Heather Dubrow Shares an Update on Daughter Max Dubrow’s College Life
See how the RHOC mom is preparing for Max’s departure for her sophomore year at Tufts University.
School is almost back in session, and for Heather Dubrow and Dr. Terry Dubrow that means sending their eldest children, twins Max and Nick, back to their respective colleges.
Suffice to say, The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member is already dreading the goodbyes to come. See what Heather had to say specifically about Max’s departure, and hear what Max shared with The Daily Dish about her life at college, by scrolling below.
Heather Dubrow’s End-of-Summer Message About Max Dubrow
Heather took to her Instagram Stories on August 13 to share a photo of Max’s cat, Vincent, along with the caption, “I’m going to miss Vincent when he goes back to college.”
She followed up the Story with another photo of Vincent, but this time he could be seen in the arms of his owner. “Oh — Max too,” Heather joked about her daughter, who’s set to enter her sophomore year at Tufts University in Boston.
Max Dubrow’s College Life
Heather discussed Max’s experience as a freshman at Tufts on RHOC Season 17. In one instance during Episode 7, Heather revealed that she was making a last-minute trip to visit her daughter.
“I’m taking a red-eye tonight to go see Max in Boston. She’s having a little bit of a tough time, so I brought a card if you guys wouldn’t mind,” Heather said, before presenting the card for the OC ladies to sign. “She doesn’t know all of you, but she knows most of you, and it would just mean a lot to give her a little ‘You got this’ kinda thing.”
Heather elaborated on the matter in a confessional interview, explaining, “Max and Nicky are off to college, and Max, historically, has had issues with anxiety. And she’s going really far from home, and it’s a lot.”
Max shared a similar sentiment when recently speaking to The Daily Dish. “I think for any student going into college or moving away from the house and the family that they’ve known their whole life, it’s difficult,” she began. “But I think, you know, I moved across the country, and that was out of anyone’s comfort zone.”
That, combined with Max’s anxiety, made the transition especially tough. As she explained, “I’ve dealt with this anxiety my whole life and stuff like that, and honestly, I was like, ‘This is so far away [but] I can do this,’ you know? And then once it came to it, I was like, ‘Oh sh-t, I have to move across the country right now.’ Like, I didn’t actually think about this.”
Thankfully, with time, Max was able to not only adjust to her surroundings but also start to thrive. One particularly positive influence — especially when she found herself missing her twin brother — was none other than her cat, Vincent. As Nick told The Daily Dish, “We FaceTimed basically every day — she basically lived with me on my phone — and then she got a cat, so she was great after that. She needed a little companion.”
