'Girlfriends' Guide' Fans Respond to Controversy
See their hilarious reactions to the banned ad in NY and LA.
Earlier this week, a tongue-in-cheek ad for Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce proved controversial when it was banned by city agencies in Los Angeles and New York, including the MTA. The ad, promoting Bravo's first-ever scripted series, shows star Lisa Edelstein flashing her bare ring finger along with a caption that reads, "Go find yourself."
"Our poster was deemed to have 'implied inappropriate creative' by the NY MTA," wrote Edelstein on celeb blogging site WhoSay. "How sassy! Perhaps we used the wrong finger?" Lisa also shared a photo of the ad, which did make it onto a large double-decker New York tour bus not owned by the city. "Boldly offending the delicate sensibilities of NYers!" she captioned the pic.
It didn’t take long for fans—along with co-star Beau Garrett!— to get in on the fun. Lisa has retweeted dozens of fans from all over the world who are sharing their own finger pics in solidarity. Here are some of our faves:
Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce debuts Tuesday December 2 and co-stars Janeane Garofalo and Paul Adelstein. The show will follow Edelstein's character Abby McCarthy, a mother and an author of self-help books, as she goes through a public divorce that has both personal and professional repercussions.
