Here's Why Andy Cohen Was "So Upset" Watching the Married to Medicine Season 8 Premiere

"This is not how I expected the season to start," the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host said.

Dr. Jackie & Dr. Simone Whitmore’s Relationship

Married to Medicine returned for Season 8 on March 7, and we were so thrilled to catch up with all of these movers and shakers in Atlanta's medical community. However, we were not happy to see the state of some of the friendships among the group — namely, Dr. Jackie Walters and Dr. Simone Whitmore, whose longtime friendship remained strained even after they seemed to reconcile at the Married to Medicine Season 7 reunion.

How to Watch

Watch Married to Medicine premiering November 24 on Bravo. Now streaming on Peacock and the Bravo App.

We weren't the only ones heartbroken over this fractured friendship. Andy Cohen revealed that he was also very sad about the state of Dr. Jackie and Dr. Simone.

"Dr. Jackie, I've got to tell you I was so upset when I saw the premiere tonight of Married to Medicine because when I last left you and Simone at that reunion, it seemed like you two had agreed that you were gonna try to study together and hang out a little bit. And this was not how I expected this season to start," he told Dr. Jackie during her March 7 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen (clip above). "Why didn't that happen?"

Dr. Jackie explained that she and Dr. Simone didn't follow through with what they had pledged to do to repair their relationship at last season's reunion. "I think Simone and I didn't put in the work. I mean, we agreed to do it, we meant well, but if you really want to cultivate a friendship and come from where we were, you have to put in the work," she shared. "Somebody has to call somebody. You have to make a point to spend time together, and we didn't do the work."

Even though Dr. Jackie said that she knew she wanted to talk to Dr. Simone, it felt like they were at an impasse, with the OBGYN thinking at the time, "She didn't call me, I'm not calling her. And she kind of half-hearted spoke to me at the hospital, so I'm not calling her." Dr. Jackie added, "So I take full ownership of that."

The OBGYNs finally came face-to-face in the Married to Medicine Season 8 premiere when they both attended the 50th birthday party for Dr. Heavenly Kimes' husband, Dr. Damon Kimes. Dr. Jackie greeted Dr. Simone with a hug at the event, which she didn't feel like was met with the warmest reception.

"I was so nervous, Andy, because I hadn't seen Simone, I hadn't really talked to her. So, you're sitting there like, 'Should I hug her? Should I not?'" Dr. Jackie recalled of the moment during the WWHL After Show. "So, yes, I was so nervous, and I was surprised because I didn't feel like she gave me back what I was giving out."

Dr. Jackie and Dr. Simone's friendship is definitely not going in the direction Andy had hoped. "I hate this. I'm very upset," he told Dr. Jackie during the WWHL After Show. "You know how I feel about your friendship with Simone."
