The June 28 episode picked up where we left off last time when Dr. Imani announced to the group that she and her husband, Phil Johnson, were separated and would be getting a divorce. "It's been really bad," Dr. Imani told her friends.

The Married to Medicine Los Angeles ladies immediately rallied around Dr. Imani to console her. "When we met, I wanted somebody that made me feel safe, and that's what I got," Dr. Imani said as she burst into tears. "And I also wanted somebody who would help me raise my son, and that's what I got."

When Shanique Drummond asked Dr. Imani why she didn't open up about what was going on in her marriage sooner, she said she "needed time to process this" and shared that it's been "really, really hard." Dr. Imani explained that she and Phil "just grew apart." "For years, it's been like we've been kind of going through motions," she said. "And we both said that, like, marriages take a lot of work."

All of Dr. Imani's friends promised to be there for her in whatever way she needs during this difficult time.

Dr. Imani tweeted as the episode aired that she is doing much better today, although reliving this moment was not easy. "I’m okay everyone! Watching this for me is not fun, but every day I shine brighter than the last one," she said. "Thank you all for your support."

Later in the episode, Dr. Imani caught up with her 11-year-old son, Idris, and asked him how he's doing since she and Phil told him they would be getting a divorce. "I don't really know how to feel about it. At the time, it's a mood killer," Idris told his mom during the episode. "It was one of the scenarios in the back of my mind from all the things a family meeting could have been."

Dr. Imani told Idris that he might go through "cycles of emotions" while coping with the news, including depression, anger, denial, and acceptance. She assured him that was fine and that they should talk about it if he has any of these feelings. Idris agreed, and then asked his mom if she was OK. Dr. Imani told Idris that she's been "sad for quite some time," but she assured her son that even though they will no longer be married, Phil will still come and visit whenever he is in town.

Dr. Imani shared how impressed she was with how Idris has been handling her divorce on Twitter. "I’m so proud of Idris," Dr. Imani tweeted. "Even when I’m down, seeing him lifts me up."

Her spirits were later lifted during the girls' getaway to Palm Springs in which Dr. Imani received a spiritual cleanse from a shaman. Dr. Imani then expressed during dinner that night that she has "a lot of things on the horizon" following her divorce from Phil.

She then revealed something Phil had once told her earlier in their relationship. "One of the worst things that anyone's ever said, but he was being honest, he was like, 'I always worried about there being a compatibility issue,'" Dr. Imani recalled. "He was like, 'Basically, I thought that I could grow to love you.' He said, 'Which I did.'"

Dr. Imani added, "I felt passionate towards him, but I wasn't getting passion from him."

During breakfast with the ladies the next morning, Dr. Imani shared another shocking secret about her marriage, that she and Phil had not been intimate in "almost five" years. She noted that at the time that she and Phil got together, she "was looking for safety, and I got it." However, Dr. Imani said that she did confront Phil about the lack of intimacy in their relationship. "I'm like, yo, this could all be rectified if you would come home and hug me," she said.

Dr. Imani seemed to be in good humor about the moment on Twitter as the episode aired. "Now you see how patient I been with EVERYTHING??" she tweeted. "I should’ve been spazzing out on everyone lol."

Dr. Britten Cole also made shocking admission during the episode. See what she had to say, below.
