How Dorit’s Capri Room at Buca di Beppo(!) Plays a Shocking Role in Kyle Richards Drama
Dorit Kemsley and Kyle Richards are shedding new light on what led to their fallout in a preview for RHOBH Season 14.
In a preview of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 14, Episode 3 — set to air Dec. 10 — Dorit Kemsley and Kyle Richards continue their fight from the previous episode, only now they're bringing up their past grievances with one another. Among them? For Dorit, when Kyle apparently made fun of the Capri Room she designed at a Los Angeles Buca di Beppo.
The revelation comes after Kyle recalls Dorit making fun of her fashion show during Season 10. "You were putting me down; making fun of me," Kyle says in the preview clip. "And I'd never do that with your business."
Dorit, however, reminds Kyle that she has poked fun at her businesses, highlighting the infamous Capri Room she designed for the Italian restaurant chain Buca di Beppo (also on Season 10).
"You've gotta be joking. You can make fun [of] Buca di Beppo. It's always OK for you to do it. It's always OK and it's always funny," she says. "But for me, it's not. And again, you have treated me a certain way for a sustained period of time — I'm fed up with it."
Why are Kyle Richards and Dorit Kemsley fighting on RHOBH Season 14?
Since the Season 14 premiere, Kyle and Dorit's friendship has been on rocky ground. They initially stopped talking after Dorit shared text messages Kyle sent her before the Season 13 reunion, and the distance between them grew even further in the lead up to Season 14.
Kyle has since explained that she specifically wasn't pleased with Dorit questioning her marital issues with Mauricio Umansky, and she was also irritated when she jokingly placed Kyle last when asked to rank her favorite Richards sisters.
Dorit, for her part, has remained upset with Kyle's reaction to her sharing the text at the reunion, as well as her claiming that Dorit was “exaggerating” details about their friendship.
What is Dorit's Capri Room at Buca di Beppo?
With the new mention of the Capri Room, some may be looking for a refresher on what exactly it is.
On Season 10 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Dorit excitedly revealed to the other Housewives that she decorated a banquet room at Buca di Beppo's Encino location. The room was filled with lemon vines and other decor that evokes the spirit of the Isle of Capri, a place Dorit came to know and love in her youth.
"I spent most of my 20s living and working in Italy. It's a place that is very close to my heart and a lot of who I am today is reflective of the time I spent living there," Dorit told Refinery29 in 2020. "Capri is still one of the places I enjoy visiting the most (PK and I were just there last summer), and I think it's one of the most beautiful, magical places in the world."
Dorit had the opportunity to collaborate with Buca di Beppo after speaking with friend Robert Earl, Buca di Beppo owner and Jagger's godfather, about her love for the Italian coast. "He instantly loved the idea, and I began designing what is now called the Capri Room," she said.
The space even served as the setting for Teddi Mellencamp's baby shower, which was hosted by Kyle and Dorit. Guests were treated to pastas and other Italian dishes.
