Fans of The Real Housewives of New York City know that friendships are always changing and evolving season to season. At the beginning of Season 11, it was revealed that Dorinda Medley and Luann de Lesseps were still on the outs following their Jovani-fueled fight in the Season 10 finale. In fact, the tension went so deep that the two couldn't even be together at Barbara Kavovit's clambake (clip below).
In an interview with The Daily Dish podcast, Dorinda revealed that she, too, was surprised to find herself still embroiled in conflict with Luann, with whom she was once so close that she was her bridesmaid.
"I was both hurt and confused because I was under the impression that we were sort of on a good path," Dorinda explained. "We had stopped filming last year and I had gotten a series of all kind of texts saying... 'Happy Mother's Day"... I just thought we were putting it behind us, she was doing great and I was doing great, and all of a sudden she went back to rehab and she came out doing endless amounts of interviews, I guess because she missed the reunion, kind of just bashing me. And I'm like, wait a second, where's this coming from? We're going backwards; I thought we were gonna go forwards. And I felt like she kind of used Barbara as a sounding board in a way to not have to deal with me. 'Cause I wanted to just go to her and say, what are we doing here?"
As for why Dorinda didn't reach out to Luann after hearing these reports, she explained, "I just felt like I didn't want to add any fuel to any fire and I didn't want to be used as an excuse for her to say, 'And she's calling me and bashing me and I'm trying to stay sober.' I was just like, you know what, this is part of her journey, I don't know why; I'm just going to lay low and try to mend this."
Dorinda shared more about the clambake situation and how she feels Luann used Barbara as a "human shield" in the podcast episode above. And tune into RHONY every Monday at 9/8c.
