Dolores Doubles Down on Louie Being "Wrong" in Tense Exchange with Teresa

Dolores stood her moral ground against Luis "Louie" Ruelas during the RHONJ "Off the Rails" episode.

By Sophie Vilensky

Listen, Dolores Catania isn't always playing Switzerland. In fact, during The Real Housewives of New Jersey's special "Off the Rails" episode, which aired August 11, Dolores told Teresa Giudice exactly what she thought about her husband Luis "Louie" Ruelas' commentary during the season finale, which they watched as a group.

Louie, more specifically, had made a comment pertaining to Margaret Josephs that Dolores wasn't happy to hear.

"Louie's going to get a lot of sh-t for that, Teresa," Dolores noted while sitting down with her friend.

Teresa initially said that she "[didn't] care" because her family had been deeply affected by her and Margaret's ongoing drama, but Dolores didn't waver. In fact, she doubled down, telling Teresa, "If I could stand here and back him up all the time, as I do, I cannot not say that that was wrong. That's wrong."

When Teresa asked Dolores to please not stick up for Marge, she said that wasn't her point.

"I'm not sticking up for her," Dolores argued. "I'm f-cking telling you if I can stand behind Louie and every f-cking thing that's said about him a million times over, even when it comes to my own son, I can say, and I have to say for my own self, [that was wrong]."

Teresa ultimately softened and explained that Louie had gotten caught up in the heat of the moment. That, and she'd make sure to tell her husband to say sorry to Margaret.

Dolores Catania defended "playing both sides" in the RHONJ Season 14 drama

Amid Dolores and Teresa's back-and-forth exchange on the RHONJ "Off the Rails" episode, Dolores addressed her neutral position in the Season 14 drama as a whole (as well as her ability to be friends with everyone) during an August 4 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

"I try to keep the peace," she explained. "Playing both sides of the fence is turning on one behind their back. I do nothing behind anybody's back."

Dolores shared a similar sentiment during a May appearance on Jeff Lewis Live. More specifically, she said that her RHONJ cast members simply have to "get over" her not picking a side — that way she can "sleep at night knowing I have never turned on anybody, and I've been a good friend to everyone."

"So if they don't like it, just tell me to my face, don't stab me in my back, and speak to me about it," Dolores added. "And we can gracefully part as friends, and you can never talk to me again. And I'm OK with that."
