This Just In: Denise Richards Called Ex-Husband Charlie Sheen Before Signing on for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
...And here's the advice Charlie Sheen gave that helped Denise Richards make her decision.
Denise Richards is quick to joke about her previous marriage to actor Charlie Sheen. In a recent episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills she even quipped that her fancy wedding to Sheen was better than the actual marriage, which lasted from 2002 to 2006. All jokes aside, though, the co-parents have remained cordial. And as Denise recently revealed, she even rang up her ex before joining the cast of RHOBH.
While chatting with Andy Cohen's bestie Bruce Bozzi on SiriusXM's Radio Andy, Denise spilled: "I did talk to him about it because as an actor in this business, I respect his opinion too. So I said, 'What do you think?' and he said, 'I think it could be really cool." But, what if he'd said it would be — to borrow a line from Luann de Lesseps — all, like, uncool?
"Even if he said this is the dumbest thing you ever did, I still would have done the show," Denise confessed. "But it was interesting to get his side of it because I have a lot of respect for him as the father and being in this business for as many years as he has."
We have to hand it to Sheen, though: He's been consistently supportive of his ex-wife's new role as a Real Housewife. Shortly after it was announced that Denise would be joining the cast, the Two and a Half Men actor told Extra: "It's fabulous; good for [Denise] ... I guess I will have to tune in now."
But even if he's watching the 'Wives on TV, Sheen's not looking for a wife IRL. When Us Weekly asked the actor about the possibility of a fourth marriage recently, he said: "Marriage again? Yeah, that’s 'no,' all caps. When you’re really bad at something, there’s no reason to keep pursuing it."
Now that we know Sheen doesn't hold back, keep scrolling to see the '80s icon play Plead the Fifth on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
