D’Andra Simmons Opens Up About the Surgery She Had Prior to Having COVID-19
The RHOD cast member offers an update on recent health issues.
The Real Housewives of Dallas cast member D'Andra Simmons has opened up about her recent health issues. D'Andra was diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) last month, and shared on Twitter that prior to her hospitalization due to COVID-19 she had undergone surgery for a separate issue.
"Being in a wheelchair now after my total ankle replacement surgery is hard for me because it is an illness I can’t hide from you. Neither was coronavirus!" she tweeted on January 12. Prior to confirming her ankle replacement surgery, D'Andra shared a photo of herself in her wheelchair with her foot, ankle, and leg bandaged over the holidays (below).
As for how she's feeling now, weeks after her COVID-19 diagnosis, she updated fans on Twitter that she's "feeling much better, babe thank you! Just very fatigue still," she wrote, adding in another Tweet, "I can’t believe I just lived through a severe case of COVID-19!"
D'Andra also tweeted that "today [January 12] was my 15th day in [a] research trial. They took 15 vials of blood and 3 nasal swabs! If I am going to have this damn virus I am going to use my body as a research rat to help others!"
The RHOD cast member has been keeping fans up to date on her health in the last few weeks, and she thanked the medical team who helped her recover when she was released from a Texas hospital late last month: "I want to send so much love and gratitude to all of the staff at UTSW Hospital. From the nurses, techs, doctors and everyone in between who helped me throughout my time at the hospital. I want to say THANK YOU for taking such good care of me and putting your own health on the line to make sure I recovered safely."
