Carl and Lindsay Still Disagree on His Career Struggles: “$20,000 Later, Nothing Happens”
The once-engaged Summer House alums didn't see eye to eye, even after Carl enlisted the help of a career coach.
The drama between the formerly-betrothed Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke continues in the Summer House After Show.
Lindsay, following Summer House Season 8, Episode 9, sat with Gabby Prescod while telling producers about her disappointment in her ex-fiancé. In a flashback to the group’s extraterrestrial alien-themed party, Lindsay said Carl wasn’t meeting her expectations regarding ambition and career.
“Societally, especially in New York City, men seek their identity from their careers,” said Lindsay, agreeing with Gabby that the two things were “intrinsically tied together.”
Why did Lindsay Hubbard fight Carl Radke about his work?
Lindsay didn’t mince words at the party when she told Carl to his face that she didn’t think he was reaching his full potential.
“Something that turns me on is when my man is out there, like, crushing life,” Lindsay told Carl. Responding to Carl’s question about whether she believed Carl was crushing it at life, Lindsay simply replied, “No, I don’t.”
In the After Show, Lindsay elaborated a little more, claiming Carl spent “nine months not doing anything,” a real blow for Carl.
“To have someone say you’re not crushing it when she knows the job stuff is — I think I’ve shared this before — I’m sensitive about the job stuff,” said Carl, citing previous job firings on Summer House Seasons 1 and 3.

Sitting alongside his business partner, Kyle Cooke, for the After Show, Carl explained he and Kyle worked through their “challenges” while navigating their hard spritzer business, Loverboy. At BravoCon 2023, Carl announced he’d returned “on a part-time basis” nine months after officially leaving, working with non-alcoholic products as part of his sobriety journey.
“I’m sensitive to that,” Carl continued. “I do believe I’m a good worker, and I have a lot of capabilities, that I am capable of crushing it.”
Carl said he hoped Lindsay would have been more “understanding” of his transition with the Loverboy brand, though Lindsay claimed she was there for him when he initially quit.
“I was like, ‘Here’s this career coach, talk to him,’ so that I could take something off of my plate, and he could then figure it out with someone else ’cause, again, I can’t f=cking do it all, and this is not sexy for me,” Lindsay continued. “So, has a career coach. Six months. Twenty-thousand dollars later, nothing happens. Nothing happens.”
Why did Carl Radke have a career coach?
Carl, alternatively, said working with a career coach — a motivational speaker himself — was “helpful” as he hashed out his role in Loverboy and worked on his communication with Kyle.
“The business coach was helpful in that, but he was also helpful in pushing me to my next thing,” Carl told producers. “He was like, ‘You gotta talk about sobriety and mental health. You’re passionate about it.’”
Carl said he’s currently trying his hand as a podcaster, but the project has yet to come to fruition. He also said the mentor suggested he follow his heart in the field of acting, which Carl previously studied at college.
Lindsay, on the other hand, claimed she was more than supportive of Carl and his dreams, especially given their TV connections. She said she was “supportive for nine months” during Carl’s time away from Loverboy but grew “exhausted” over time.
“We have $20,000 in the career coach,” Lindsay continued in the After Show. “I just want you to be happy and focus on something ’cause if you have a purpose, you’re gonna have confidence. If you have confidence, maybe you’ll f-ck me. If you f-ck me, I’m happy!”
Lindsay’s comments are of little surprise, given past statements about her and Carl’s “challenging” sex life.
