The Real Housewives of Potomac alum, who announced her pregnancy with husband Chris Bassett back in April, opened up about her life as a mom during a recent appearance on Fox 5's Motivation with Melissa

"It's surreal. He's seven weeks and four days today, and I will still wake up and say, 'Oh my God, there's a baby here, or, oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm a mom,'" she gushed during her interview on the program.

The magnitude of motherhood hasn't fully sunk in yet for Candiace.

"It's not real yet, and I can't get anything done because I will just hold him all day and all night and just stare at him, just in awe of like, 'Where did you come from? How are you here?'" she continued. "It's so strange in the greatest way."

Candiace Dillard Bassett shares why she's not showing her son's face

Though Candiace has shared many details about her son and her life as a mom in recent weeks, she has yet to publicly show his face. She explained why to Fox 5.

"It just feels so special to have him all to ourselves, but in the same vein, I know there's so many people that rooted for us and prayed for us and are excited for us and are excited at the prospect of us having a child, that I knew that I wanted to share with the world that he's here... but I'm also just very aware of how interesting the world can be, and how scary the world can be," she said. "And I just want to keep him safe for as long as I can. And protect him for as long as I can."

The RHOP alum does plan to show Jett's face in the future, adding, "Of course, eventually, we will see him. You will see him soon."
