Bronwyn Newport is opening up like never before about her scary run-in with a dog at a dog park that left her with puncture wounds, a fracture in her bicep, and stitches on her arm and leg.

How to Watch

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member briefly explained what happened during RHOSLC Season 5, Episode 13 when she met her fellow cast members at the airport on the way to Puerto Vallarta, where she showed off the bites on her leg. "So I took one of my dogs to the dog park and somebody's dog was in there unattended...and he bit me," she said in the episode.

In an interview with People on Dec. 13, Bronwyn revealed what happened that day at the dog park. "There was a dog running around," she explained. "He wasn't barking, nothing seemed weird, but he was alone. So I reached out to pet him and he did make a weird kind of skid move. He jerked away from me."

But then the dog lunged towards her, biting her behind the knee, and then caught her on her arm. "I totally freaked out," she continued. "I'd never been bitten by a dog before. I totally lost my mind, and I honestly think I made it worse."

Bronwyn told the publication that the dog bit her behind the leg and the calf, but then got her other thigh as she pulled away. "I think at that point I must have leaned forward or was trying to push him away," she said. "He ended up getting my right arm, where my bicep is, very badly, and clamped onto my arm. I could not get him off."

It then took a bystander to help get the dog away from the RHOSLC newcomer, before she was rushed to the hospital for treatment. "I had 37 bites when I went to the emergency room," she said. "They had to do a comprehensive overview. I had stitches in both my arm and leg. When he clamped down on my bicep, he fractured it. I had a little hairline fracture on the bone, and the bruising was really intense and it was throbbing."

How is Bronwyn Newport doing after her attack and dog bites?

Luckily, Bronwyn was able to heal well enough to be able to attend Lisa Barlow's trip to Mexico featured in RHOSLC Season 5, Episode 13. "I've been in a sling, I've had stitches, but I took a nap! So..." Bronwyn explained to the cast members in the airport on the way to Puerto Vallarta. "Right in time to go to Mexico!" she added, during a confessional.

Bronwyn confirmed to People that both she and the dog are now doing OK. "Honestly, as a dog lover, I was terrified for dogs after a long time afterwards. You just are," she said. "The most important thing to me is that the dog is also doing well and I'm doing well."

How many dogs does Bronwyn Newport have?

Bronwyn is a longtime dog lover, especially, the boxer breed. She and her husband, Todd Bradley, have six different boxers who live with them in their Salt Lake City home. The couple most recently welcomed their newest addition, a boxer puppy named Freddie, in February.

During a question and answer session, posted to her Instagram Story in 2021, Bronwyn revealed that she never had dogs growing up. But, she somehow ended up with boxers, and doesn't see herself having it any other way. "Now, I can't see myself with any other dogs, because I'm obsessed with them!" she wrote at the time.
