Brittany Cartwright Shares an Update on Her Son, Cruz, Amid Split from Jax Taylor
The Valley cast member also revealed her plans for Cruz's 3rd birthday party: "It’s going to be cute."
Brittany Cartwright is putting her little boy first.
When she announced her separation from Jax Taylor, The Valley cast member confessed she had no idea what the future had in store. But despite the uncertainties swirling around her marriage, Brittany said she was sure of at least one thing: She would continue “being the best mom” to her and Jax’s 2-year-old son, Cruz Michael Cauchi.
“We’re doing a really good job going back and forth,” Brittany recently told People magazine about her co-parenting relationship. “And I’ll also take him to the house and play and we’ll swim one day or have him play on his play set and we’ll do different things.”

Brittany previously revealed she was no longer living at the Valley Village home she purchased with Jax in 2019, and has been staying in Airbnbs as she determines her next steps. While Brittany described her living situation as “tough,” she and Jax have remained quite cordial in the interest of their son. The estranged couple have documented several family get-togethers over the past month, including a day at the zoo and, most recently, an Easter Sunday celebration.
“It was great,” Brittany said about the latter event. “[Jax is] still my family, so we just wanted to make the day perfect for Cruz.”
She continued: “Jax will take him to Sky Zone, or he’ll take him to the park one day. But that’s the most important thing. So I think it’s honestly been better because we aren’t fighting in front of him. And for me, I think that’s what is most important, right now. Because that’s why I had to get him out of that situation in the first place.”

Brittany went on to describe Cruz as “very athletic” and the “perfect mixture” of her and Jax: “He loves to climb, jump, run, and play on swing sets. He’s just got energy, nonstop. But he has got the sweetest soul. He got it from me, of course.”
Brittany is now gearing up to celebrate Cruz’s 3rd birthday later this month. The Valley mom told the outlet she's planning a dinosaur-themed party at Sky Zone, the aforementioned trampoline park he frequents with his dad.
“Cruz just absolutely loves that trampoline park, so it’s going to be cute,” she said. “He loves dinosaurs, so I want it to be very jungle-like.”

Fans got a closer look at Brittany’s parenting life in The Valley Season 1, Episode 4 when she opened up about Cruz’s developmental needs. The Kentucky native said she became concerned after noticing a regression in the toddler’s verbal skills and decided to seek professional help.
“Cruz has done everything on time when it comes to crawling, walking, sitting up,” Brittany said in the episode. “He was saying ‘dada, mama, doggie,’ things like that. And then he just seemed to regress one day. Like, he stopped talking almost all together. Now, we’re going to put him in speech therapy just to make sure that he has all the help that he needs.”
