Braunwyn Windham-Burke Opens up About Her "Complicated" Relationship with Her Mom

The latest episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County was an emotional one for newcomer Braunwyn Windham-Burke. Not only did she shed some tears after coming into conflict with Tamra Judge and Shannon Storms Beador over a text exchange she had with Gretchen Rossi and Lizzie Rovsek (clip above), but things also got a little uncomfortable during a dinner with her mother, Dr. Deb, as they discussed some of the more challenging moments of her childhood.

Though it seemed like they didn't exactly remember Braunwyn's upbringing the same way, the OC Housewife told The Daily Dish that upon reflecting on the moment, she's able to understand where her mom was coming from. "My relationship with my mom is more complicated than she realizes. I do know though that parents and children often have very different recollections of things and that I’m only seeing things from my point of view," Braunwyn said ahead of Tuesday night's episode airing. "I love my mom so much and really respect the fact that, as a single mom, she supported us and worked hard to become a doctor."

Looking back on her past, as well as encountering some conflict in this week's RHOC, is already helping Braunwyn in her life. "The largest lesson I learned from this week is how much of my life I’ve spent trying to keep people happy. I hate uncomfortable situations and try and deflect instead of dealing with things," she shared. "I’m still a work in progress, and the show has really helped me work through some uncomfortable truths."
