Braunwyn Windham-Burke Has Someone "New and Special" in Her Life While Living Apart from Husband
RHOC's Braunwyn Windham-Burke opens up more about the future of her marriage to husband Sean Burke.
After confirming that she is not currently living with her husband, Sean Burke, Braunwyn Windham-Burke opened up more about what's been going on in her marriage during a recent interview with Us Weekly.
Braunwyn shared that she is taking this time to get more in tune with herself. "I want to be kind of careful right now because it's all so new, and I'm kind of keeping it to myself. Like, it's new and special. You know, there’s someone in my life right now that makes me happy and I smile just thinking about, but I kinda want to protect it right now. I’m not quite ready to put it all out there, everyone in my life that knows me knows what’s happening," Braunwyn explained. "I don’t think I’ve smiled so much. It’s good. I know if you look at social media, it seems really like crazy, but things are really good in our house right now.”
Braunwyn shared a similar sentiment during a recent interview with Access Hollywood in which she described what she had learned about herself while living apart from Sean and during her journey with sobriety, which she opened up about in the Season 15 premiere of The Real Housewives of Orange County.
"I've realized that I'm stronger than I thought I was. I think getting sober has given me a lot of freedom. I can do all of the things. I'm also coming to terms with different parts of my sexuality that I never gave myself the grace to consider," she said. "Right now, I'm protective of this. I'm not blasting it out everywhere, but there's definitely parts of me that I quelched with alcohol, and I never really admitted to myself. You know, I'm 42, so I grew up in a different time than my kids are. And so, I'm just giving myself the time and grace to figure out who I am, to be as authentic as I can to myself."
She added, "It's nice right now just to have a little time to just be Braunwyn."
However, Braunwyn emphasized during her interview with Access Hollywood that she and Sean are still married and have no plans to divorce.
"Yes, we're still together, and I know it's hard for a lot of people to understand. We're happily married, we plan on staying happily marred. There's a lot of things going on in our life right now. A lot. We have had a very crazy six weeks," she said. "There's just a lot going on in our lives right now, and for a lot of different reasons, we just think that we need some space right now to work on ourselves, to get through our own issues. Various family dynamics, it's good for us not to be in the same home right now."
Braunwyn also told Us Weekly that Sean is still her "best friend" and her "first phone call in the morning" and "last phone call at night." Of course, he is also still there for their seven children. "He's there all the time. He's there for pickup. He's there," Braunwyn said. "If anything, he's still around the kids as much as he was before; it's just he's sleeping somewhere else at night."
When it comes to what the future holds for their relationship, the RHOC couple is taking things one day at a time. "I know it's hard for people to understand. 'They're splitting two homes, so they must be unhappy.' But I guess what I want to say is we're living in two homes because we want to stay married," Braunwyn explained to Us Weekly. "And is this forever? I doubt it. My gut says no, but I'm gonna live today today, and I'll worry about tomorrow tomorrow."
