Bethenny Frankel: Don't Drink and Text
The 'RHONY' star dishes on what not to do after a breakup.
Bethenny Frankel has made it clear: she's really not good at the whole relationship thing.
So the Real Housewives of New York star went and penned the book, I Suck at Relationships So You Don't Have To: 10 Rules for Not Screwing Up Your Happily Ever After, to really prove it. And in a new interview, she's revealing what she thinks has made it hard for to be successful in romance.
"I think I suck at choosing the right people for me," she tells Haute Living magazine. "I don't think that I actually suck when I'm in a relationship, but I think that I haven't gone with my gut enough. I've made decisions out of fear, which is the biggest mistake people can make. You have to make decisions out of truth."
Bethenny and ex, Jason Hoppy, ended their marriage in 2013. They have a daughter, Bryn, together. Now, she admits, "I am very, very well aware of what my mistakes are [and] I hope that people learn from my mistakes."
She's documented that in her latest tome, but is also dishing out some wisdom in the interview.
"Don't medicate by drinking too much, eating too much, or putting your face in a pint full of ice cream. Go out, be confident, look good, try to feel good, and don't beat yourself up and do things that are self-destructive," she advises the newly single of the world.
Oh, yeah, also try to stay away from your phone when you're feeling down.
"Don't text and call and drink and obsess—it's so hard," she says. "I really think that you should process and go through it. Leave it all on the table and be vulnerable so you don't second-guess yourself and then build yourself back up."
