Ben Robinson Says Kate Chastain "Was a Challenge" This Season of Below Deck
The #BelowDeck chef reveals how the chief stew's new relationship took a toll on their friendship.
The yacht's galley always seems to heat up when Ben Robinson and Kate Chastain are together on Below Deck. Though they don't always get along, the two have undeniable chemistry that has even manifested in a few on-land hook-ups between them over the seasons.
Now that Kate is in a relationship this season of Below Deck, how has that changed the dynamic between her and Ben? "Kate was a challenge that season," Ben told The Daily Dish before ultimately saying that their "relationship was fine."
But Ben said he did think this affected how they worked together, as Kate seemed more focused on her new relationship than on her job. "I do feel that Kate, her head wasn't as in the game as it usually is, I think," Ben explained.
Captain Lee Rosbach also noticed a change between Ben and Kate. "Yeah, I saw a difference in the relationship," he told The Daily Dish. "I thought you were a little less tolerant than you normally are."
Ben agreed, saying that he noticed some of his interactions with Kate were more tense this season. "I think I put up with a lot more on previous seasons, and I never thought Kate was a very strong communicator. And unfortunately, that is her job, to communicate with me on behalf of the guests. And I think it just really did piss me off quite a lot. It's 6:30, and I didn't know what time dinner was. It's really not that hard to sort of figure out what time dinner's gonna be and sort of [structure] the guests and let the chef know," he said. "I think I probably flew off the handle a few times. It didn't get any better. It probably made it worse, actually."
However, it looks like the chef will get over Kate pretty quickly this season of Below Deck. Keeping watching Below Deck on Tuesdays at 9/8c to see what we mean.
