Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Paget Berry and Ciara Duggan Are Engaged
The first mate surprised his longtime girlfriend with a proposal in Italy.
Break out the bubbly! Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Paget Berry and Ciara Duggan are engaged.
The couple announced the happy news on Instagram on Thursday, July 9. Ciara shared several photos on her Instagram of the occasion, including one in which she can be seen kissing her new fiancé on a boat while holding champagne glasses as the sun sets. The collection also includes a video of the moment Paget popped the question in front of a fountain in Genova, Italy, where the two have been working on a boat together since last season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. "Well folks, it finally happened," Ciara wrote in the post, along with a smiley face and ring emoji.
Paget also shared a couple of photos of the engagement on his Instagram on July 9. "I did a thing," he wrote in the post, along with "#engaged."
The Below Deck Sailing Yacht couple had been together for a few years prior to Season 1, first meeting when Ciara's parents hired Paget to teach them about sailing. The charter season tested their relationship like never before as they navigated working together, with Paget as first mate and Ciara one of his deckhands, as well as Paget's flirtatious behavior with Georgia Grobler.
But by the end of the season, Paget and Ciara's relationship was as strong as ever. They went on a romantic getaway to Bali, Indonesia and went to work on a boat together in Italy after the charter season ended.
When Paget and Ciara appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: @ Home in April, they said that they could see themselves getting engaged within the year. However, that day seemed a little bit further off when we got an update on what's next for the couple during an interview with Paget in our digital series The Final Word on June 3, which you can view, above.
"We recently purchased a house in France a few months ago, so that's a big step forward in our relationship. I've always said, 'Look, the day you wake up and you don't like me or you don't love me, you just tell me, and we'll deal with it when it comes,'" Paget said in regards to a future engagement for him and Ciara. "But as long as we're happy and moving in the right direction, for now, let's not put a name on it. But, yeah, I'm sort of secretly hoping that maybe in the future I can get in there with the question."
