Mads Herrera Reveals If She Regrets Going for Gary Instead of Alex on Below Deck Sailing Yacht
Plus, Alex Propson himself revealed a major update on his own relationship status.
When Mads Herrera hooked up with first mate Gary King on Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4, she had no idea she was about to get involved in a complicated love dynamic.
In case you need a refresher, during the crew’s day off on Episode 10 (which aired on June 12), Gary confronted chief stew Daisy Kelliher about their past hookups, which the two had previously kept secret. Daisy then told engineer Colin MacRae about it because they had just made out, and Gary decided to let Mads know as well.
Though Mads wasn’t bothered when she learned that Daisy and Gary had slept together, the confession did make her wish she had given deckhand Alex Propson more of a chance. Read on for details.
Mads weighs in on her connections with Gary and Alex
On the June 12 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, host Andy Cohen asked Mads why she “didn’t ever make a move on Alex” when it was clear that the two had a flirty rapport with each other during the charter season.
“At that time, I really had no idea that Alex was interested in me, and [I] thought he thought of me as a friend, and so I just didn’t pursue it,” Mads explained. She later added that “yes” she does “wish” she had gone for Alex instead of Gary now that she knows how messy the first mate’s love life has been.
More specifically, during the WWHL After Show, Mads revealed that she wouldn’t have hooked up with Gary if she had known he’d already been with Daisy.
“I sensed that they slept together, but if I knew to the extent of the drama and stuff that was involved in whatever throuple relationship they have, I don’t want to be involved in that,” Mads said, referring to the love triangle between Daisy, Gary, and Colin.
Alex reveals a change in his relationship status
Though Mads expressed an interest in Alex following the charter season, the deckhand is currently in a relationship.
When Alex appeared on WWHL on June 5, he confirmed that he does have a girlfriend — and that she isn’t exactly the biggest fan of watching him on Below Deck Sailing Yacht (which could have something to do with the kiss he shared with Daisy in the hot tub).
“I think that she’s not enjoying it at all,” Alex joked, before sharing that he met his girlfriend when he “lived out in Los Angeles” several years earlier. He noted that the two had previously dated before they “rekindled” their relationship after filming wrapped on Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4.
