Kyle Viljoen Reveals What Really Happened Between Him and Frank After Below Deck Med Season 7
The stew also opened up about his love life today.
Kyle Viljoen may have thought that he found love with charter guest Frank on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 7, but the bloom was quickly off the rose when the two reconnected on dry land.
After visa issues kept him ashore at the beginning of the charter season on Below Deck Med Season 8, Kyle finally made it to Mustique on Episode 3, which aired on October 9. Once he got acquainted with the vessel, Kyle shared a surprising update on his love life, and he revealed what really went down between him and Frank when the pair reunited in New York City.
What happened between Kyle Viljoen and Frank?
Though it seemed like fate had brought Kyle and Frank together in Malta on Below Deck Med Season 7, their connection quickly fizzled out. As Kyle explained in an interview on Season 8, Episode 3, he flew to New York after Season 7 wrapped.
"After leaving motor yacht Home, I had a one-way ticket to New York City to meet Frank. Frank was a charter guest on motor yacht Home, and I realized there was no connection," he said.
His love story with Frank may only have been one chapter long, but the charter guest ultimately led Kyle to his current partner.
"So, after that, I went to my dating app, and I saw this profile pop up: Dr. Zachary Keith Riley," Kyle said about connecting with the New York-based medical professional during his trip to see Frank. "We've been dating ever since."
He told chief stew Tumi Mhlongo that he had plans to pop the question as well.
"I'm super, super in love, and we're gonna go to South Africa because I'd like to get engaged there with my family," he said. "I'm really, really excited."
Kyle Viljoen's Relationship Status Today
The interior team crew member did end up proposing in South Africa once the charter season concluded.
"Zachary [and] I are officially engaged and to my universe I want to thank you for loving me unconditionally, desirably and with full intent to be my forever and always,” Kyle wrote on Instagram along with a carousel of photos from the proposal. “We have walked a rocky but loving road, you have made my heart full and I found home in not materialistic things but in my soul you have your place!”
He went on to share more details of the proposal.
“Flying to South Africa on Table Mountain was the point I wanted to scream highest to say we have our place in this universe and surrounded by his and my family was a sacred energy that we could only have wished for and more!” he concluded in his caption.
