Why Is There So Much Flirting on Below Deck Mediterranean?
#BelowDeckMed's Hannah Ferrier and Bobby Giancola weigh in on why the Ionian Princess is such a love boat.
It's unclear if love is in the air this season of Below Deck Mediterranean, but flirting definitely is. Nearly all of the crewmembers have been a little more than friendly with one another this season. One even stole a kiss from a charter guest (we're looking at you, Danny Zureikat).
So was this something veteran chief stew Hannah Ferrier expected when she climbed aboard the Ionian Princess? "In terms of flirting on yachts, it's something that's always gonna happen," Hannah, who has gotten close to Ben Robinson and Bobby Giancola this season, told The Daily Dish. "It's like almost a stress relief when you're at sea to kind of just have a bit of banter."
Bobby agrees that flirting with your fellow yachties is almost inevitable, especially when you're not in a relationship back home. "I'm going into this single, and obviously there's pretty ladies on the boat," he said. "When there's flirting going on and knowing that we're living together, we're working together 24/7 for six weeks, you know, there's bound to be some kind of physical attraction somewhere because we're all human."
Whether you're around your significant other all of the time on board or you're away from him or her for months on end while at sea, as Bobby's crush Julia d'Albert Pusey is on Below Deck Med this season, it can be a stressful experience. "If you have too much of a good thing, it can be bad," Bobby told The Daily Dish.
But as we've seen on Below Deck in the past and on this season of Below Deck Med, yacht romances often don't have a happy ending. So should yachties pursue them at all? "It's pretty much always a bad idea, but we still do it anyway," Hannah joked. "It's almost like, imagine having a fight with your boyfriend and then not being able to be any further than 35 meters away from him for the next month. Or breaking up with him, and you literally have to see them 400 times a day. It's not fun."
We've already seen Hannah and Bobby get a little flirty this season of Below Deck Med, but would they ever date each other on land? See what they had to say about the match on Watch What Happens Live, below.
