Malia White Shuts Down Dating Rumors Involving Another Below Deck Yachtie
Get an update on the Below Deck Mediterranean alum's love life.
Below Deck Mediterranean's Malia White and Jake Baker may have broken up earlier this year, but she is not dating fellow yachtie, Katie-Maree Flood.
The Season 6 chief stew revealed as much during an Instagram Q&A on Monday, May 8 after one follower asked, "Are you and Malia dating?"
"No," Katie wrote before adding a laughing-crying emoji. "We are best friends that work and live together and have a lot of other amazing opportunities that we get to do together. We are so [lucky] to have each other and get to work towards our goals, dreams and our futures side by side of each other. She's my work wifey for life."
Speaking of work, Katie also teased that she and Malia have "[l]ots of exciting things coming."
The Below Deck Med alum didn't provide any additional details, but Malia went on to share Katie's post to her own Instagram Story. Then, Malia posted a video of her and Katie together as they once again denied the romantic speculation.
"To put all the rumors to rest — no, we're not dating," Malia said before Katie added, "We just do everything together."
"Like work and travel," Malia noted. What's more, she "still like[s] men."
The love life update is the latest Malia's shared since this past February when she announced that she and Jake — who first started dating in the summer of 2021 after meeting during Below Deck Med Season 6 — had gone their separate ways.
"So obviously I’m single,” Malia told Showbiz CheatSheet, before referencing the fact that her last two relationships were serious boatmances. “Jake and I met on the same boat. Tom [Checketts] and I met on the same boat ... I went from such a really intense relationship with Tom, like straight into a relationship with Jake. And I never had time to kind of take a break.”
Katie actually weighed in on the split at the time, telling the same outlet that Malia and Jake simply weren't "meant to be."
“It’s like any relationship. They tried and they were an amazing couple,” Katie explained. “Jake’s a good guy and it’s just one of those things. It just didn’t work out. That’s all it came down to.”
Malia didn't share any other details about the reason behind the breakup, but she did agree with Katie that Jake is "a good guy."
Looking to the future, there's a good chance Malia's next relationship won't start on a boat. As she put it, “I’m not going to say I’ll never date a yachtie again, but I’m definitely going to choose wisely."
