"I anticipated that my mom would be angry at me and that she would stop talking to me," Ashley admitted.

Ashley Darby's relationship with her mother, Sheila, has been a point of contention for her and her husband, Michael Darby, with whom she recently reconciled after a separation last year. Michael told Ashley he needed to stop providing financial support to her mother and criticized their relationship. The Real Housewives of Potomac friend also had issues with her mother's longtime boyfriend. With all these issues playing out on TV, watching scenes back can be difficult.
“It’s been pretty rough for us," Ashley admitted to The Daily Dish podcast. "I anticipated that my mom would be angry at me and that she would stop talking to me. Thankfully she said, 'That’s where we were. That was a very raw and true showcase of what was going on between us. So I'm not mad that we shared it; it still really hurts me.' She was crying about it because it takes us right back to that moment but she's not angry.”
Ashley shared that her mom told her that watching herself on the show has been "incredibly eye-opening." "She even told me that her boyfriend, who I've talked about openly on the show, said to her, 'I didn't know that I was that bad.' So that moment of reflection to me meant a lot because it hurts me that it had to be this public in order for him to take heed to it, but then I was just happy that he did. I'm like, 'Yes, we haven't gotten along for almost 16 years, but the fact that you even made that comment and had that level of self awareness, it kind of made up for some of the other feelings that I'm having about telling my story.'"
Whatever issues Ashley and her mom may have dealt with in the past, the RHOP friend makes it clear that she is loyal to and loves her mom. "Now some of these trolls online, however, who want to attack my mom and call her names: 'alcoholic,' 'drug addict,' 'freeloader,' this and that. I'm like, 'Woah, you can say what you want about me, 'Cletus,' but do not come for my mother.' That's where the line is drawn."
Ashley also discussed her current relationships with her fellow 'Wives; hear that and more in the podcast episode above.
