Ashley Darby Shares If She'd Like to Have More Kids
The RHOP cast member opens up about her future as a mom.
Ashley Darby doesn't want to wait too much longer to have another baby. She recently told The Daily Dish in a phone interview earlier this summer that "hopefully Dean’ll have a sibling soon."
The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member welcomed Dean last July and seems ready to expand her family with husband Michael Darby. "Most definitely. I mean, seeing how wonderful Dean is and Michael is just such a hands-on dad. I would really have a football team if I could, but out of respect for my partner, you know, I’ll stick with two," she said, noting that she is "100 percent ready for a baby now."
She noted that Michael has made it clear he'd like keep their family size smaller, and Ashley knows that their is a bit of a time crunch for them to make more kids work.
"People say have kids younger. It’s easier to keep them together. Also Michael is very aware of his age and he wants to be around for as long as he can with his kids. So, we’re definitely trying to have our children back to back," she said.
During Season 6 of RHOP, Ashley was open about how she had to deal with postpartum depression following the birth of Dean and explained in the same interview with The Daily Dish how she found ways to cope with it.
"Well, I didn’t even recognize I had postpartum. I thought I was normal. I thought every single mom feels like this and it wasn’t until I started having some really dark thoughts about myself and feeling overwhelmed. I started feeling like I wasn’t capable of protecting Dean. Very weird. Looking back on it, I’m like, gosh, I can’t believe I really felt like that, so I did have to get professional help," she said.
She reflected, "And actually my pediatrician recognized it first by giving me this questionnaire and I answered the questions and they were even eye-opening for myself to know that I wasn’t, things were not as right with me. So, I went and saw a postpartum therapist. She helped me."
These days, life is good for Ashley and her little family. She reflected on motherhood in an Instagram post in June: "The past 11 months have been the best times of my life. Even in this time of darkness and revolution, this baby is bright sunshine."
