Ariana and Katie React to Scheana and Sandoval's "Ridiculous" Moment: "She Is a Male Sympathizer"

Scheana Shay and Tom Sandoval also unpack their tearful conversation from the Lake Tahoe trip on Vanderpump Rules Season 11.

By Allison Crist

In an attempt to bring some harmony to the group during Vanderpump Rules Season 11, Episode 6 on March 5, Tom Sandoval recruited a yoga instructor to lead a meditation session — one that ultimately left both him and Scheana Shay in tears as they reflected on the loss of their years-long friendship.

Tom Sandoval and Scheana Shay Share New Details on Their Emotional Moment in Lake Tahoe

While looking back at the interaction, which came after Tom and Scheana were paired up for a special meditation, he admitted on the Vanderpump Rules After Show that it "was a little too intense right off the bat."

After all, Scheana found herself crying for most of it. "It was really hard for me," she said on the Vanderpump Rules After Show. "It wasn't just getting paired with him. It was things at home, things in my head, and then with Sandoval when I finally sit down and do it and I'm looking at him in the eyes, it was like, I was mad at him for so many things. I was mad at him for what he did to Ariana, I was mad at him for what he did to this group, I was mad at him for the things he said about me, I was mad at him that he used to be a person I could go to, who I trusted, who I knew always had my back, but now, like, who the f-ck are you? I lost it."

Ultimately, though, Scheana found the exchange to be "constructive" for one reason: "That specific instance was the first time I saw genuine emotion from him, and real tears, and not performative tears."

"I was like, there's still a soul in there," Scheana concluded.

Tom, for his part, said he "hate[d]" seeing Scheana get so upset, but at the same time, it showed him "a different perspective" that allowed him to "come out of myself and my feelings."

Ariana Madix's Reaction to Tom Sandoval and Scheana Shay's Tearful Meditation Moment

Scheana eventually recapped the interaction for Ariana on Vanderpump Rules, but their conversation left her feeling unsupported.

Ariana, however, said on the Vanderpump Rules After Show that she feels as though she's "been very understanding" of Scheana's pain over losing Tom as a friend. "I don't know what else I need to do."

"If that's a road she wants to goes down, she has every right to do that and can," Ariana said of Scheana potentially forgiving Tom and pursuing a friendship with him. "But I don't think I need to be the one who co-signs it."

Ariana further discussed Scheana's possible motivations with Katie, noting, "Because [Tom] said he didn't give a f-ck about her and they were never really friends, like, that hurt her feelings obviously — as it should — but instead of being like, 'That really hurt my feelings and that was a f-cked up thing to say, so now I don't need to put stock in this person anymore,' now she needs to get that back somehow."

Katie Maloney's Response Tom Sandoval and Scheana Shay's Potential Reconciliation

Katie had a different point of view to offer on the Vanderpump Rules After Show. "I think it's kind of ridiculous. I just don't understand it, the being conflicted over missing a person again who kind of doesn't exist," she explained. "Because it's like, I understand you guys were close at a certain point ... but you've been very, very, very close with Ariana, so if you're having a hard time making a choice, this person made it very easy on you because they've been an asshole to you. You should be very happy that they've made this choice very easy on you."

Katie went on to express her belief that Scheana "is a male sympathizer."

"I don't mean this as a put-down, this is just an observation," Katie added. "There's something about male validation that she really seeks out."

Take, for example, what happened during Vanderpump Rules Season 10. "When Tom [Schwartz] and I were going through a divorce, suddenly Tom Schwartz was one of her very, very good friends who really needed her support," Katie said of Scheana. "And during this time [with] Ariana and Sandoval, she just really needs that friendship with Tom Sandoval."
