Andy Cohen Breaks Down His First Date Since Becoming a Dad: "It's Not Necessarily the Greatest Moment in My Life"
The WWHL host is back on the dating scene... and looking for love since becoming a father in February.
Andy Cohen is back on the dating scene — the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host has officially gone on his first date since welcoming his son, Benjamin, back in February. And, well, let's just say it wasn't a love connection.
After being set up by Howard Stern with one of his radio show's staff members Chris Wilding, fans are now getting the complete 411 on what happened when the duo met up in NYC at The Monkey Bar, back on March 19. Andy revealed all on The Howard Stern Show.
Currently-single Andy according to PEOPLE, claimed, “I said to him right at the beginning, ‘I am here because I want to be your friend.’ I was upfront. I just felt like I wanted to have a drink with this guy. I wanted to get to know him. I clearly went into this with a different feeling than Chris did.”
Chris was in the studio as Andy opened up about their date, with the WWHL host adding, “I wanted to be clear with you in the beginning because you were in a position where you deserved that. I set you up with someone who I thought was a great catch, and I still do!”
Chris noted on the show that Andy showed up to the date having already indulged in a few drinks, adding that Andy was distracted during their meet-up. “It was a very odd date. If it was a date with a ‘civilian,’ I would say it went very poorly. The fact that it was Andy, it was very cool. I do like Andy. The date is just a little sloppy," he said.
Andy owned up to drinking before the date. “That was a very long day. … I was super buzzed when I showed up… I had had two tequilas, I had a little bit of an edible. … And I left drunk,” he said. “[When I went to leave], I felt like I was checking myself. I actually felt tipsy at that point… In my mind, I was like, ‘I need to remove myself before this goes off the rails.’ Clearly, in your mind, it had already gone off the rails but I was actually trying to protect myself at that point.”
While Andy noted that his date with Chris was "not necessarily the greatest moment in my life," he has since been out with someone else.
"I did have a date last week. It was like a 45-minute date. I showed up stone cold sober. The guy was not into me," Andy said. "I thought he was interesting, but he was very not into me.”
Well, it's a good thing he does have a couple special guys in his life already:
