Here’s Why Captain Sandy Yawn Let Someone Go from the Crew of Home
On the August 8 episode of Below Deck Med, go inside the moment the captain lets this Home crew member go after “complete chaos.”
The last charter was, well, the last charter for one of the yachties on Home. On the August 8 episode of Below Deck Mediterranean, Captain Sandy Yawn is dealing with some issues stemming from a crew member’s mistakes during the docking that took place on the August 1 episode of the series.
In a sit-down with bosun Raygan Tyler, Captain Sandy notes some of the “complete chaos” during her tenure and that the “final straw [in her time on the crew] was the docking” in the previous charter. “There was a point where you called three meters and I had less than a half a meter,” she said about the error. “And that can’t happen, Raygan. It’s dangerous.”
She then lets the bosun go after discussing the mistake as well as her lack of experience in her role. “If I had the time and I wasn’t running a boat this size, I would train you. I would teach you,” Captain Sandy tells her, before revealing she plans to give her a recommendation as well as some career advice as she embarks on her next chapter.
In the end, Captain Sandy wants Raygan to keep trying because the yachting industry needs more women in leadership positions, telling her, “Don’t give up.”
You can hear from Raygan following the firing in the clip above.
Emotions are running high as the crew learns of Raygan’s firing, and soon the entire boat is buzzing about it. To find out what happens next amid the crew drama and how Raygan is feeling about the decision, you can check out all those moments from Monday’s episode, above.
