Naomie Olindo Clarifies If She’s Still “Dating” Whitney Sudler-Smith
Here’s everything we learned about the Southern Charm pair from the reunion and how the cast reacted.
There was much to discuss at the Southern Charm Season 8 reunion — from Shep Rose and Taylor Ann Green’s breakup to Madison LeCroy and Venita Aspen’s falling-out — but fans were no doubt eager to hear about one of the most surprising developments in the show’s recent history: the fling between Naomie Olindo and Whitney Sudler-Smith.
And thankfully, Naomie delivered. She answered several of viewers’ most burning questions throughout the two-part reunion, including how she and Whitney — her longtime friend — got together in the first place.
“Whitney and I, there’s a little bit more there than what you saw on the show, because he lost his dad over the summer,” Naomie explained. “And that’s when he called me and we started talking more frequently. It was a slow build.”
She couldn’t recall who made the first move, but according to Shep, Whitney had previously claimed it was Naomie. “Whitney said you grabbed his hand and you were like, ‘Let’s get out of here,’ and y’all went to another bar by yourself. It was kind of lovely.”
“He’s so easily frightened about his personal business being put out there,” Shep added of Whitney, “and I was like, ‘I would kind of lean into this one — Naomie’s gorgeous.’”
Not everyone was as enthusiastic about the pairing — namely Craig Conover, who was admittedly taken aback after first hearing that his ex and one of his friends had hooked up. “I’m not gonna say that it wasn’t absolutely shocking,” Craig said at the reunion, doubling down on his assertion that Whitney broke the bro code. “And I think it’s weird. You just don’t hook up with people’s exes.”
Perhaps he was glad to hear the latest development in the Naomie and Whitney saga. Asked by reunion host Andy Cohen if they were still “dating,” Naomie confirmed they were not. “But we’re still great friends,” she said. “It was never more than just a really great friendship that kind of turned for a second and then went right back.”
