See Inside the Insanely Gorgeous Birthday Party Khloe Kardashian Threw Her Daughter True
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians mama spared no expense celebrating her baby girl’s first birthday.
It would seem that the Kardashian sisters are in a race to see who can throw their kids the most over-the-top (read: expensive!) birthday party. No, they’ve never been known for being understated, but when it comes to parties, literally no one can keep up with the Kardashians. Or their budgets.
You’ll remember there was that joint jungle-themed party that Kim and Kourtney Kardashian threw their sons Saint and Reign — produced by uber-expensive celebrity event planner Mindy Weiss! — or the Stormiworld carnival Kylie Jenner hosted for her daughter’s first birthday, which was held inside an enormous tent that looked like her daughter's face. Yes, really.
Or there was that time Kim imported snow for the family’s legendary Christmas Eve party. Or when Khloe had elephant-shaped topiaries and flowers hanging from the ceiling at her baby shower.
Point being, the Kardashians don’t play when it comes to parties. And never was this clearer than this weekend, when Khloe feted her baby girl, True, with a first birthday party for the books. Held at her gorgeous Calabasas mansion, the butterfly-themed party was also produced by Weiss and featured everything from ponies with pink tails to balloon installation after balloon installation to an Olympic-sized ball pit.
"True turns ONE!!!! After my baby shower, I didn’t think we could ever top such a dream like party but with the help of @wildchildparty and @mindyweiss we did!" Khloe wrote on Instagram. "Look at these pastel gorgeous balloons! And the sweet butterflies on top.... oh My!! Thank you so much for turning my vision into reality. love is in the details.”
And while each detail was completely and utterly extravagant (like the customize-your-own cotton candy station), it was also completely and utterly gorgeous. Awash in a rainbow of pastel hues, the event took on a soft, dream-like feel, which was exactly what Khloe was going for. "@MindyWeiss making all my dreams come True!!!" Khloe wrote on Instagram. "No pun intended. You are a visionary!" Let’s ogle all of the party’s details together, shall we?
That Entrance
Guests entered Khloe’s home under a canopy of paper umbrellas hanging upside down. Awaiting them was an all-white balloon installation in the foyer. Reminder: This is a 1-year-old’s birthday party.
A Cloud-Like Greeting
To set the magical tone, Weiss had smoke billowing out Khloe’s front door. Khloe captioned the image on Instagram: “Let’s Dream in the Clouds” and posted an Instastory video of her walking into the event while holding True, set to the background of Ariana Grande's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." We're not crying. You're crying!
Baby Girl's Name in Lights… Er, Grass
In case anyone forgot, baby girl True was the party’s star and to remind everyone, Khloe commissioned her daughter’s name in humongous grassy letters. She also hired artist Punk Me Tender to adorn the topiaries in the butterflies the artist is famous for. Want to see the mommy and daughter duo posing in front of the name? (Trust us, you want to see this photo.) Go here.
Balloon Bonanza
There are balloon installations and then there’s this. Created by Wild Child Party, the balloon wall in Khloe’s backyard was nearly two stories tall and created a pastel-rainbow backdrop for the family’s many photo opps.
Healthy Refreshments
Khloe called in Pacific Organic Pops to serve healthy treats to guests out of a cute, vintage-looking cart.
An On-Theme Art Installation
Artist Punk Me Tender also created a floor-to-ceiling 3D mural of butterflies for True’s party.
The Most Beautiful Ball Pit... Ever?!
This is not the McDonald’s ball pit of yore. Nope. Instead Khloe filled a humongous box with iridescent balls in creamy and pinkish hues — the perfect backdrop for all the guests’ selfie sessions.
True’s Little Ponies
A Kardashian party isn’t complete without a miniature pony, but Khloe really upped the ante by dying her ponies' manes and tails pink to match the party’s aesthetic.
Sorry… We Meant Unicorns!
Of course the ponies were wearing unicorn headbands. Of course they were. Event planners everywhere, take note out of Weiss’ page — God is in the details!

Weiss ran hundreds of heart-shaped pastel cookies down the rustic, extra-long wooden table and the result is sugary perfection. And if you need more proof that the Kardashians — and the Real Housewives. for that matter — never met a neon sign they didn’t like, click here. Above True’s dessert table, Khloe hung one quoting the Eurythmics song “Sweet dreams are made of these.” Talk about accurate!
