"Picky Bitch" Reza Farahan Tries Emu Egg, Raw Oysters at an 8-Course Liquid Dinner
The #Shahs star had some awkward moments during the all-cocktail meal.
When he signed on to join chef Graham Elliot for an episode of Going Off the Menu, Reza Farahan specifically requested the alcohol episode. The self-described "picky bitch" figured he could stick to drinks and not worry about facing something from his very long list of foods he can't stand.
"I used to be f***ing fat, you'd think I eat everything. But a bitch was fat and picky!" the Shahs of Sunset star exclaimed in an interview with The Feast. "I can't eat dark meat chicken, I can't eat steak, I can't eat a lot of, like, animal flesh. So I had to do the alcohol episode because a bitch was so picky, they couldn't have me do any of the food tasting episodes."
Unfortunately for Reza, he was soon presented with one of his dreaded foods while attending an eight-course liquid dinner hosted by the Omakase Society—an alcoholic raw oyster.
"I'm just gonna put this out there. I can't stand oysters," Reza declares in the episode. "But, I'm gonna eat this one." After some hesitation, he gamely downs the oyster—and manages to keep it down.
"I actually ended up eating the oyster only because they told me I could just swallow it," Reza admitted later to The Feast. "And I didn't want to be like, well, I can't drink this, I can't drink that. So I was like, f*** it, I'll just have the oyster. I literally just let it slide down my throat."
But the oyster moment wasn't Reza's most awkward. That would happen later in the dinner, when a rum eggnog—made with raw emu yolk and served in the emu egg shell—was served. "I can't even eat dark meat chicken, I can't eat cooked egg yolks, I'm not going to eat a f***ing emu egg or drink an emu egg," Reza said later. "They brought the actual emu egg, it's like a gigantic blue-black egg. Legit. It was alarming."
But again, Reza showed he was up for the challenge, bravely lifting the egg to his lips. "I literally sipped it, it hit my lip, and then I went [licks his lips quickly], OK I'm good."
Raw oysters and emu egg—impressive. What's next for Reza, an omelet?
