Whatever Happened to Camille's Friend Dedra?
The makeup artist is still tight with Camille Grammer and has her own beauty line
Whenever one of our Real Housewives leaves a franchise, she rarely goes alone: The members of her entourage who viewers have grown to know and love also disappeared. Each week, we'll be looking into the lives of one of these familiar faces. This week, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hillsguest star Dedra Whitt.
As Camille Grammer's makeup artist and best friend on RHOBH, Dedra Whitt made sure she always had her girl's back—on screen and off.
Dedra was at the center of the drama during Brandi Glanville's Malibu dinner party from hell back in Season 2 when she got into it with Taylor Armstrong while defending Camille—leading Brandi to kick Taylor out. Although Camille wishes things hadn't escalated, she was grateful Dedra had her back at the time.
"She was there for me with the situation with Taylor and has been with me through everything with my divorce and my ongoing custody battle," Camille wrote in her Bravo blog. "We've been through so much together and she's been so supportive."
Dedra has admitted that things got out of control that night in 2011 because she'd had too much to drink. "I definitely was loaded. I'm not gonna lie," Dedra told AXS Entertainment, "and I didn't do a lot of eating. So yeah, not a good combo!"
When Camille left the show after Season 2, so did Dedra—but the two are still close friends. These days, Dedra continues to work as a professional makeup artist. She's done ad campaigns for Guess and UGG and even launched her own makeup line, "dedra."
She says she had fun on RHOBH while it lasted, but she loves her day job. "I do advertising campaigns, and then I also teach at a makeup school, and I also do private makeup consultations where people—and this is where I have the most fun—where I will go to someone's house or party and teach someone to do their own makeup, and the step-by-step process of it," Dedra told AXS Entertainment.
"It sounds like fluff," says the working mom, "but when you can help someone to feel better about themselves, then that's great."
Dedra also regularly shares makeup tutorials on her YouTube channel and social media, and her latest video, which she posted on Twitter, is probably our favorite yet: It shows you how to apply your makeup in the car in two minutes.
