Genius Move: A Restaurant Is Giving Out Free Photo Kits to Help Customers Step Up Their Instagram Game
It's an obvious marketing ploy, but it's pretty clever.
In this Instagram-crazy day and age, restaurants are coming up with some pretty shameless ways to garner Insta-likes and regrams. Over-the-top food mashups? Check. Gimmicky serveware? Check. Stunningly beautiful food that might look better than it tastes? Check.
One restaurant in London, however, is upping its Insta-friendly game with a pretty bold move: Dirty Bones, a casual diner serving up creative riffs on comfort food, has begun handing out "foodie Instagram packs" to its patrons—for free, according to Mashable.
What, you might wonder, is exactly in this mysterious pack? It's actually pretty amazing: a portable LED camera light for that all-important natural glow; a clip-on wide angle camera lens, so you won't miss a single glass of wine or stray fork; a multi-device charger, just in case you run out of juice before dessert arrives; and a tripod selfie stick, for those much-coveted overhead table shots.
"People love to share what they’re eating on social media, so we wanted to put together something that made it easier to get that perfect shot regardless of the lighting or time of day," a Dirty Bones spokesperson explained in the Mashable article. "More and more people are also using Instagram to help them decide where to eat, so as a restaurant group it’s key for us to make sure that people are getting the best possible shots of all our dishes and drinks."
The restaurant has even revamped its menu to make it dishes more insta-friendly. We're betting the Chicken and Waffles or Baked Skillet—eggs in tomato sauce with avocado and cheese—would look pretty food porn-tastic in your Insta feed.
