Did Ariana Madix Protect Her Assets Before Tom Sandoval Took Out a Home Equity Loan?
Tom used the longtime Vanderpump Rules couple’s home as collateral to finance his latest restaurant/bar, Schwartz & Sandy’s, before they split.
During Season 9 of Vanderpump Rules, Tom Sandoval revealed he planned to finance his new bar with Tom Schwartz by taking out a home equity loan, and Lisa Vanderpump had thoughts about how his decision could impact Ariana Madix.
When Lisa and Ariana discussed the matter during an October 2021 episode, Ariana said, “He’s doing that loan, but it’s only against his own equity. It doesn’t affect me at all.” Perplexed, Lisa asked, “What do you mean it’s only against his equity?” before noting that Ariana and Tom were “joint co-owners” on their $2 million Valley Village house. (Take a tour of the house in the video above.)
“I’m not sure that Ariana quite understands the concept of putting your house up as collateral,” Lisa said in an interview. “If they default on their loan, then the bank never goes and takes half the house back. It’s like, ‘Ariana, you stay in bed. We only want Tom’s half.’ It doesn’t work like that.” However, Ariana felt confident in her plan with Tom at the time, declaring, “All of that financial responsibility is on him and him alone, and my financial responsibilities are remaining intact.”
More recently, following Tom and Ariana’s split, it seems viewers are curious about the finances of their house. When Lisa appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the host asked on behalf of a social media user, “Do you know if Ariana took your advice and protected her assets when Tom took out the equity of their home in a down market?”
“Oh god, I really don’t know about that,” Lisa said. “I mean, that’s the shame, really, is the fallout of all of this. This is like a 10-, 11-, 12-year relationship. A home together. They’ve got businesses together.”
Tom and Ariana have yet to confirm the specifics of their finances related to the home as they navigate their split. They purchased the house in 2019, and as you can see in the video above, it has a “nice, white, airy” kitchen, a beautiful backyard, and eye-catching decor.
