Lisa Vanderpump Opens up About Feeding the Homeless for 13 Years
The Vanderpump Rules philanthropist provides meals from Villa Blanca for Los Angeles' homeless population each week.
Lisa Vanderpump is quick to joke about her taste for opulence — it was she, after all, who opined that life should be all about diamonds and rosé. But the Vanderpump Rules boss has a far more serious side when it comes to philanthropy.
Lisa's love for dogs famously inspired her to found her own rescue center, and she's worked tirelessly to end the Yulin Dog Meat festival in China. She also manages to use her restaurants for a charitable purpose.
Back in 2018, we saw the restaurateur donate Villa Blanca meals to firefighters and sheriffs who were fighting the California wildfires. But donating food is hardly a new practice for Lisa, who's been feeding Los Angeles' homeless population for 13 years.
Spectrum News 1 recently profiled this charitable effort. Every Monday morning, the staff at Villa Blanca makes food for the homeless, giving veggie-laden pastas and pizzas to a local church to distribute to those in need.
"We bring our staff in early and create nourishing nutritious dishes that are easy to eat," Lisa told the news outlet. "A lot of the homeless population have tooth problems, so we're very cognizant of that."
Lisa has helped serve the food to the homeless as well, and shared a particularly poignant anecdote from her experience. "One of the things that touched me many, many years ago is everybody wears a name badge," she said. "And the people at the church said always address the people that come for the food by their name, because it might be the only time that week that someone has spoken to them by their name."
