Curtis Stone Explains What Kids Understand About Food That Grownups Don't
And that's why the Top Chef Jr. host says kids are "the best judges."
Curtis Stone, who is hosting the new series Top Chef Jr. with Vanessa Lachey, has the utmost respect for young chefs and eaters.
"Kids understand so much about food that grownups don't, because they have these incredible imaginations that don't get masked in any way," he tells The Feast (clip above). "So when they think about food, they think about what's possible and they come up with really really interesting dishes."
Curtis has two young sons of his own with his wife, actress Lindsay Price, so he speaks from very personal experience.
"They also are just brutally honest in terms of what they like and what they don't like, you know?" he says of children in general. "So it's very easy to know whether a kid's enjoying your food or not."
"They're the best judges," he insists. "The thing I've learned the most from cooking with young chefs, it's gotta be the creativity. When you throw them a challenge, their minds just go boom! As an adult you think about all the reasons that things aren't possible, but with kids they just think about all the things that are possible and I love that about them."
Curtis is the host of the new series Top Chef Jr., which premieres Friday, October 13 at 8/7c. Watch it only on the NEW Universal Kids. And tune in for Top Chef's Season 15 premiere on Thursday, December 7 at 10 pm PT/ET!
