Going for Brooks
Episode 13: Bravotv.com's Editor wonders when is the right time to meet your mom's new boyfriend.
Hello OC Fans! We're back and Briana's still married. Let's recap and see how Vicki dealt with the aftermath -- and tried to blend her new son-in-law with her new feller.
Something Blue
Before we get into all this wedding nonsense, Vicki and Tamra go in search of new brassiere. Vicki wants something natural that will accentuate her breasts (which according to this lady are double Fs, a size I did not know existed, but as Tamra said this woman prefers the metric system).
Besides just very oddly sized bras, the store has wedding wear -– leading Tamra and Vicki to discuss Briana's big nuptials. Tamra is worried that Briana got married as a way to deal with all the other drama in her life. Vicki feels that it's disrespectful for Briana to marry someone that she barely knows, but she's trying her best to put her poker face on and stay strong for B's sake. And it seems like the best course of action. I know Vicki is bummed about Briana's choice, but there's no going back now. Rolling with it is really the only option.
Lease Renewal
Meanwhile, in another level of courtship, Slade is off to ride bikes with Gretchen's dad -- while Gretchen is off to lunch with Tamra. Once Slade and Scott get ready for their bike ride, Slade mentions that he has a question for him. Slade wants to propose to Gretchen, and Scott doesn't exactly approve. Scott wants Slade's debts and such in order before they get hitched. It's rough to hear her dad say that basically love ain't enough -- Slade needs to clear up his reputation and his past before they can build a life together.
Over lunch, Tamra and Gretchen discuss the issue (as well as Tamra's new gym which sounds amazing. I'd like a lifetime membership please). Gretchen loves him, but she's not ready to take on his debts and drama. She's worked to hard to have her hardwork garnished, plus she still needs to work through her previous marriage issues. It seems like now is just not the time for these two. Let's leave it at a lease until things are more settled.
Surprise by Wives
Vicki plans to use she and Tamra's big Wines by Wives party to unveil Briana's marriage -– and to introduce Briana and Michael to Brooks. Basically this party is becoming quite the affair. What else will be announced there? It's already so action-packed but maybe someone else could get surprise married or bring a long-lost relative just to keep it fresh.
Anywho, everyone gets supremely dressed up for the big affair (gowns). And I have to say how great did Tamra's Ryan look all dressed up? In his baller tuxedo! If you were choosing between buying furniture for your apartment and that tuxedo, I'd say you made the right choice. Even if you have nothing to sit on when you look home -- you look lovely standing.
In fact everyone looks pretty incredible all dressed up. Red, 'Wife, and blue as it turned out! Tamra's even aiming to look even better by having her Simon tattoo removed.
And then it’s time for Brooks and Michael to meet. Brooks is his usual, wisdom-sharing self, but Michael isn't really ready to get into the deep talk just yet. . .This can't be a good sign for his impending into to Briana.
And then it's time for the big announcement. The 'Wives are waiting with baited breath (the possibilities of what else Vicki could have been announcing do really lead the mind to reel). And then Vicki presents the happy couple Mr. and Mrs. Culberson. I personally thought the ladies reactions were priceless, particularly Heather's composed yet aghast "Oh my gosh."
Then Vicki has one more surprise. It's not an engagement (as Briana so down-troddenly guessed) -- it's Uncle Billy!
Now that everyone is in better spirits, the Wines by Wives section of the party begins. Can I just say I laughed hysterically at Gretchen eating the cheese before she was supposed to. Mainly because how long must you make someone wait for cheese! It's always too complicated, the holding of the glass and the cheese. Get the woman a plate.
Once the cheese was speared from Gretchen's glass and returned to her mouth, Tamra, Slade, and Gretchen discussed the ladies' new found friendship. Slade appears more open than ever to Tamra, but he's still waiting of that apology. We'll have to wait and see if he gets it.
And then it's time for the big moment: Briana meeting Brooks. It's tough to watch, because Briana is so clearly not open to the idea of this happening. And therefore it goes about as well as you would think. . .
Next week looks to be even less comfortable, when Vicki and Briana get into it over what exactly she knows about Brooks.
What do you think? Was it the wrong place for these guys to meet? Or does Briana need to be more open to her mom’s man friend? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
