Insurance, Havasu, Chastity
Vicki Gunvalson talks business, wedding plans, sex, and Cancun.
There have been a lot of responses to my blog asking me how I got started selling insurance. When I was a single parent, I had to figure out very quickly a way to work in a business that would cater around my 2 small children. A friend who was also an insurance agent and single at the time, introduced me to the profession. The 1st year in the business, I was the top agent in the company I worked for on a consistent monthly basis. I saw the potential of this career and loved what I did, which made it very easy to excel in. If I had to give any advice to someone starting out, I'd say, in all honesty — "It's a "numbers game." Don't give up when you have a bad day. Always do the right thing for the client and don't think about the commissions you will make. If this career was easy, everyone would be doing it. It's not easy, but it's a very rewarding career.
In this episode, there was some talk about planning Lauri's wedding. I have never planned a wedding other than my own, but I truly would love to be a part of Lauri's wedding plans. I know she will be a beautiful bride and am so happy that she has found her "soul mate." This episode also gave a glimpse into Donn and I unwinding in Havasu. We have owned our home in AZ for over 6 years now. The friendships I have out there are very genuine and very solid. My friends in Coto are very dear to me also, however I feel a bit more "at ease" with my AZ friends.
I'm sure there will be some conversation about my assertion that my children shouldn't have sex before marriage. I want the very best for Briana and she ultimately is going to make the final decision on this topic. I believe that each time we "give our self" to a man....a piece of our soul goes with. Briana and I have an amazing relationship, we talk about everything. I have tried to instill good moral beliefs in both of my children which will be the foundation of their life. We believe that the Lord will bless those who follow his rules, and her marriage with Colby will start out solid and blessed if they can abstain. What a "gift" they can give to each other if this is done. Ultimately, she will make the final decision on this as I have done my best in telling her the consequences of this.
Other than that, things are moving right along. I just returned from 1 week in Cancun with my husband Donn. We haven't really spent a lot of time together lately as the show and publicity has really occupied a lot of our time. We enjoyed being with my sister Lisa and her husband Terry as there is nothing like being with them. My business is growing nicely — still working a lot but trying to balance out my life more than it has been. Looking forward to "boating season" in a few months at the river!
