See Inside Dorinda Medley's 2 Fully-Stocked Fridges at Blue Stone Manor
From frozen pizza to caviar, The Real Housewives of New York City cast member has something for everyone.
For Dorinda Medley, keeping her fridge stocked with a variety of food is the key to making it nice. "I'm always entertaining," The Real Housewives of New York City cast member told BravoTV.com while giving an exclusive tour of her Blue Stone Manor refrigerators in the video above. "I always want to have something for people to grab something to eat."
With items ranging from Reese's whipped cream to caviar, it's safe to say no guest is leaving Dorinda's beloved Berkshires home with an empty stomach.
Canned pumpkin is a particularly important item to Dorinda. "I love to make pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin chai, pumpkin creamers, pumpkin whipped cream," she explains in the clip. "I love pumpkin."
Dorinda also keeps a variety of boxed broths on hand for different cooking uses ("you can add them to rice, you can use them for a base of soup"), and notes that the savory liquid is a great way to ensure foods don't go to waste. "I'm going to give you a really great tip: at the end of your weekend, take everything you didn't eat, leftover meatloaf, if you have a leftover chicken, all of your vegetables, [and] just put it all in a pan," she says. "Cover it with some broth, put a top on it, let it sit for three or four hours, and you can give your guests a nice, hearty soup before they leave."
Finding ways to preserve food is clearly an important practice for Dorinda. "I love fresh herbs," she says. "If you don't finish your fresh herbs, chop them all up, put them in ice cube tray with a little oil or butter, and you can just pop them out and make a little steak or a little chicken next time."
"Try not to throw away anything," she continues. "Use everything in your refrigerator."
While Dorinda has an affinity for fresh foods, she also opts for frozen items. "Don't be afraid of frozen vegetables," she says. "They are so great to have on hand." Other items in her freezer include Giordano's stuffed pepperoni pizza and a variety of popsicles for her "popsicle queen" daughter, Hannah.
Naturally, with all of the food she keeps stocked, Dorinda relies on an additional fridge for drinks. "My second refrigerator is mainly beverages," she explains. "I just think it's very luxurious when you have all kinds of liquids."
