Lucky Number
Kelly gets to the bottom of the class issue and admits she's not much of a gambler.
I arrived a day late because I was in New York City hosting a Soul Cycle class with US Weekly. If you haven't tried spinning, and it's in your neighborhood or at your local Curves, try it!!!
I digress. I got into the car after the spinning class and jumped out of the car in my sweatshirt and filmed LuAnn's video. Friends show up for friends. Period.
So, when I got to the Borgata (an amazing hotel which makes Atlantic City feel like Vegas) I was excited to try my hand at gambling. Not everyone tries gambling for the first time, and is filmed doing it for a music video. So, now the entire world knows my gambling prowess, or the lack there of. Everyone has a lucky number, I'm just not sure what mine is.
Music videos are fun to film. They are! It was my first, and it was a blast. And, I can honestly say I feel sorry the other ladies missed out on that experience. LuAnn is not the town crier and the music video is not her on a soapbox telling the world what to do or not to do. Luann took her first book, Class with the Countess and created a hit song, "Money Can't Buy You Class," and "Chic C'est La Vie" is sure to follow in it's footsteps.
Let's get to the thick of it. Does money buy you class? In this group, most of the women think that is does. They think it buys them a rite of passage, a superiority complex and the right to turn their nose up at anything they'd like to disagree with at that moment, even if they are guilty of much worse. Money can't buy you class, but it can buy you an education, which affords you the ability to make your dreams a reality. It is not an outright purchase, no. The word "class" which is more commonly used in Europe than America, is about navigating through all situations with grace, and draws a line in the sand between those who aspire and those who don't. What more can I say. I struggle everyday, trying to do the best for myself, family and friends. Every woman has the ability to be elegant -- don't knock those who want it.
#kkbstyle: This week, Im obsessed with light grey nail polish. My Twitter followers (@kellybensimon) and I are crazed over it. Grey is the new neutral. What to wear this weekend? Lace it up! Lace is huge trend for summer and you can even layer lace for a more covered look than the beach cover up. Anthropologie has gorgeous lace dresses.
And for your pied, try an espadrille. One of my oldest friends, who you probably have seen on HSN: Curations with Stefani Greenfield, has the sickest espadrille collection. They are available on TheodoraandCallum.com. They are hot with long maxis or even shorts -- if you dare to wear shorts out at night.
As always, check out my offerings on OpenSky and see what I am wearing, eating, and how I am exercising on my Facebook fanpage. Follow me @KellyBensimon. And, my jewelry will be available at Wink, W Hotels, and at Dash.
Until next week, as the Housewives turnnnnnnnn. . .
