Lisa Loves Texas
Lisa dishes on her trip to Texas and meeting Lea's family.
Apologies for being absent for the last week! I'm playing catch up after a very long, difficult week in NYC. My week started off great at Watch What Happens Live with one of my favorite hip hop artists, Ja Rule, and then nonstop press. The reunion, which is never fun to film, was stressful. I cannot tell you how happy I am to be home.
I had no idea that I would fall in love with Texas, but I did. The people in Texas and their southern hospitality truly remind me of my hometown Toronto, Canada. I've always connected to people from the south for this reason. Almost everyone I meet from the Midwest is down-to-earth, polite, humble, and kind.
My husband Dr. Leonard Hochstein lived in Texas after beginning his medical career when he applied to medical school as a merit scholar high school senior. He was able to surpass the customary four years of college and go directly from high school into medical school. He attended the accelerated program at the Louisiana State University Medical Center where he graduated as Valedictorian of his class. He received his M.D. in 1990.
He continued his training in General and Trauma Surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas from 1990 to 1995. My relationship with Lea has really grown this season. I was flattered that Lea trusted me enough (even though she puts up walls occasionally) to go to Texas with her to meet her wonderful family. They welcomed me with open arms and treated me like family. I felt right at home. They are beautiful people inside and out. I see where Lea gets her big heart from. I was also deeply saddened to discover that she had lost a sister not too long ago. My heart goes out to them. I know their sister is watching over Lea and her family.
I was thrilled to learn about Lea’s accomplishments. She is a self-made woman who has worked hard her entire life. She has motivated and touched so many around her. Meeting with her girlfriends in Texas was such beautiful, positive moment highlighting women empowering one another. Something I would like to see more of on TV, especially in reality TV. I mentioned that Lenny and I were having tension in our relationship. I wish I said that differently, because it sounded like a bigger deal than it was. The whole baby making thing is of course creating tension. Of course no relationship is perfect. For the most part I would say about 90% of the time my relationship with my husband is wonderful. Whenever you see something play out on TV, it just becomes magnified.
My prayers go out to Elsa, and it breaks my heart to see Marysol so upset.
